LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' Episode 8 aired on Disney+ on July 16, 2024. The final episode brought an end to the first season of this extravagantly made 'Star Wars' epic that chronicled the enthralling origin of the Dark Side.

'The Acolyte' was anticipated by 'Star Wars' fans as a much-needed story that would show the High Republic Era of the Jedi Order and why it had to come to an end as a Dark force was rising.

However, as the series began and fans got a glimpse of what showrunner Leslye Headland had created, the anticipation soon turned into a disappointment of epic proportions as the show became one of the most hated shows in the 'Star Wars' universe ever.

Here is a look at 5 moments that turned the fans away from 'The Acolyte'.

Master Indara's death in the first episode

After a huge buildup and promotions featuring Carrie Anne-Moss as Jedi Master Indara, she died within the first seven minutes of the episode and while such a moment could have created shock and awe, this one just made fans angry.

Master Indara would return later for a couple of flashback episodes though her character would never gain momentum and could never get across in those episodes in the show.

Ki-Adi Mundi's canon-breaking appearance

'Star Wars' fans take the canon very seriously and were really hurt at seeing the show's makers ignore the canon and show Ki-Adi Mundi (Derek Arnold) in 'The Acolyte'.

'The Acolyte' is based 100 years before the events of 'The Phantom Menace', and to have this character turn up in 'The Acolyte' made fans angry at the execution of this show. The angry fans were outraged online and it even made people behind the scenes clarify his existence in the show.

Wookie Jedi Kelnacca's brief appearance

Fans were pleasantly surprised to finally see a Wookie Jedi in a live-action series when Kelnacca (Joonas Suotamo) appeared in Episode 2 of the show briefly.

Unfortunately for the fans, his tenure in the show would be a blink-and-miss appearance as he is killed in Episode 4. The show's makers did not even care to show a fight sequence and how he died.

He returned later in the series in a flashback episode, but it was too late by then as the series could have really done with his character being explored in much more detail.

Episode 4 ending

For four episodes, the show teased the revelation of who the masked Sith was and he finally appeared at the end of the fourth episode just when the viewers thought that they would finally know who he was, the episode ended abruptly.

In Episode 5, we get to know that the masked Sith is Qimir (Manny Jacinto) but by then the build-up was so long that it became stale and monotonous. The cliffhangers were a continuous problem for the show and there were just too many of them.

Sol's Flashback

Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) had promised to reveal things about his past for two episodes, but when the revelation came, it came in the form of a repetitive Episode 7 that had many portions of Episode 3 seen from a different point of view.

His revelation and the choices he is guilty of were underwhelming particularly after such a long build-up and the audience was not impressed at this act of dragging the suspense only so that the viewers turn up in the next episode.
