'High Potential': Todd Harthan teases love triangle including ‘This is Us’ star and it's about to get messy
'High Potential' Season 2 promises a messy and complex love triangle upon its March return. The future of Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson), and Lucia (Susan Kelechi Watson), and their relationships with each other, takes center stage when Episode 13 returns next month after a brief hiatus.
Those who caught Episode 12 will remember that tensions were high in Morgan and Karadec's relationship. Also factor in how much longer Lucia will be part of the picture. According to showrunner Todd Harthan, Karadec’s ex-fiancée will be here to stay for a bit longer. With Karadec confiding in his previous relationship to Morgan, while also showing signs of rekindling the past romance with Lucia, there's a lot to unpack.
While fans are familiar with the early friendliness between Morgan and Lucia, Harthan teased what's in store when asked whether there would be more interactions between the two. "It’s such a wonderful new ingredient in our show to explore,” Harthan told TVInsider.
"So, what you’re seeing is the early stages of what this looks like". He further added, "Of course, there’s a bit of a roller coaster to this sort of soapy thread, and you’ll see in the not too distant future how it all plays out because it’s a TV show, so we’ve got to have trials and tribulations and twists and turns and drama. There are some bumps along the way." During an event, the showrunner also opened up about how he selected the cast, who seem to have such good chemistry now.
Safe to speculate that things will come to a head at some point in the season. Whether Karadec will go back to working things with Lucia or look to build on that chemistry with Morgan remains to be seen. The aftermath of the 'bumps' that Harthan hinted at makes it all the more interesting. With the two already established as the most important women in his life, will Karadec do justice to whoever he eventually ends up with, or will Olson's Morgan make the move of backing away despite their personal affection for each other for Lucia?
With multiple reports already suggesting a high likelihood of a Season 3, there is every reason to believe this storyline will carry over to the third instalment. With six episodes remaining in Season 2, fans will be keen to see how the love triangle plays out.
At the time of writing, the show is on a temporary break while NBC airs the Winter Olympics. Instead of a new episode on February 10, the network will be airing reruns of the show's episodes, 'The One That Got Away: Part One' and 'The One That Got Away: Part Two.' There is also no official synopsis listed for Episode 13. The logline for the show reads, "A single mom with three kids helps solve an unsolvable crime when she rearranges some evidence during her shift as a police department cleaner." The drama returns on Tuesday, March 3, and will be available for streaming on Disney+ the following day. It will resume its usual weekly airing schedule until the finale, Episode 18.
