The season's grand conclusion arrives on BBC iPlayer at midnight on Saturday, June 22, and will also be broadcast on BBC One at 6.40 pm the same day. In the US, it will be available on Disney+.

Showrunner Russell T Davies has hyped it as "the most devastating finale" in the history of 'Doctor Who'.

In an interview with Radio Times, Davies spoke about the episode, "We want this finale to be explosive and unforgettable. It's like watching a massive movie. I hope it shocks a lot of people – if I can pull it off. I think I can."

With such a bold statement, what can fans expect? 'The Legend of Ruby Sunday' has hinted at some possibilities.

Sutekh might wreak havoc in 'Doctor Who' Season Finale

The One Who Waits revealed himself as Sutekh in the first episode of the two-part finale, a foe from the Doctor's early encounters featured in 'Pyramids of Mars'.

Gabriel Woolf returns to voice the character, reprising a role he first played 50 years ago.

Sutekh, known as the God of Death, unveiled himself towards the end of the episode, hiding in plain sight aboard the TARDIS. Through an Anubis-like creature, he issued a chilling warning of imminent death for the Doctor and threatened Earth.

From the trailer, it appears Sutekh's first act might be to unleash chaos across the planet, wreaking havoc and destroying indiscriminately. The Doctor might have to race against time to stop the villain and banish him back to his origins.

Another burning question viewers are eager to have answered is about the origins of Ruby Sunday. Since joining the Doctor on his adventures, Gibson's companion has remained a mysterious figure, particularly due to being abandoned by her mother as an infant.

The identity of Ruby's mother remains shrouded in mystery, though there are hints suggesting she may have some understanding —or even a connection— to Sutekh. During his revelation, Sutekh referred to himself as 'the father' and the God of Death.

Could Ruby's mother be 'the mother' and the Goddess of Life? Perhaps the finale will finally reveal her true identity and shed light on why she has concealed it for so long.

We think that the Doctor will rescue humanity from Sutekh's grasp, but the method and sacrifices involved are uncertain.

What is certain is that Gibson will be back for the next season of the BBC series, indicating she will survive the ordeal.
