'Dexter: Resurrection' Season 2 adds fan-favorite 'Downton Abbey' star to an already stacked cast
Season 2 of 'Dexter: Resurrection' is shaping up to be a show worth looking out for, especially with its recent casting choices. According to a report by Deadline, Dan Stevens of 'Downton Abbey' and 'Zero Day' fame has been cast in a series regular role on the Showtime series. The news follows the previously announced casting of 'Succession' star Brian Cox as the elusive and enigmatic Don Framt, also known as the New York Ripper, whose existence was teased in Season 1. Moreover, the network has confirmed that Uma Thurman will be reprising her role as Charley, the former Special Ops officer who worked for Peter Dinklage's Leon Prater and fled the city in the first season.
According to the report, Stevens will portray Owen Stark, also known as the Five Borough Killer. At this point, it can be speculated that in addition to Framt, Stark will be a considerable antagonist in Season 2. Stark is described as an accomplished serial killer who has a habit of taunting and teasing the police with phone calls that threaten to harm innocent civilians, drawing an instant comparison with the infamous Zodiac killer. However, unlike some mere copycat or cowardly thrill-seeker, Stark often does make good on his promises, and every time he does, the police and the administration are put in jeopardy.
Stevens was most recently seen in 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire'. He also appeared in the independent film 'Cuckoo.' The 43-year-old is slated to appear as a leading character and executive produce the upcoming horror limited anthology series 'The Terror: Devil In Silver.' Furthermore, he will collaborate with director Adam Wingard for the third time in a row on the upcoming film 'Onslaught' and will star in the Laura Miller Rogan-directed 'Babies.'
As of this writing, the sophomore season of 'Dexter: Resurrection' does not have a release date, though speculation points to an October 2026 release. It has also been speculated that Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes. The plot details for the next installment are being kept tightly under wraps. The debut season of 'Dexter: Resurrection' picked up directly in the aftermath of Michael C. Hall's Dexter Morgan being shot in the chest by his own son. Upon coming to his senses, Dexter discovered that Jack Alcott's Harrison had given him the slip. Once he realized the impact of his actions on his son, Dexter set out for New York City to make amends. The debut season also starred Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, among others.
