'Dexter: Resurrection' Season 2 gets exciting filming update after major Season 1 finale twist
Dexter is currently gearing up to return for more kills. Director Marcos Siega recently shared on social media that he and his team are almost done with prep work for 'Dexter: Resurrection' Season 2. The director shared an Instagram story with a caption that read, "Last day of prep! Here we go! Can't wait to start filming!" The picture he posted featured him, writer Scott Reynolds, and showrunner Clyde Phillips, as per ScreenRant. This implies that the sophomore season of the sequel series will soon go into production. Filming will likely take place in New York City, as per past statements. "Last season saw Dexter move to New York City – and now we look forward to following suit, gaining greater access to the region’s incredible creative talent, leveraging a competitive tax credit program, and reinforcing our commitment to U.S. production," EVP of production for Paramount TV, Drew Brown, shared as per the publication.
Recently, the upcoming season got some major casting updates. Uma Thurman, who played Charley, a former Special Ops officer, will return for the second season. She was last seen escaping from New York to look after her sick mother. Considering how her character's storyline ended, many fans thought a comeback was not on the cards. Brian Cox was also revealed to be joining the cast and will play Don Framt or the New York Ripper. "Though no longer active as a killer, he’s found a new way to live into his infamy by continuing to taunt the survivors of his long-ago murder spree," an official character description read. Michael C. Hall will continue to appear as the titular serial killer Dexter Morgan. Harrison Morgan, played by Jack Alcott, is also expected to return as Dexter's son and one of the few people he cares about in the world.
'Dexter: Resurrection' followed the events of 'Dexter: New Blood' and was released on Paramount+ Premium in the summer of 2025. The first season saw the titular killer reuniting with his son and coming across a secret society of serial killers. This secret society was established by billionaire Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage) through dinner parties. The season ended with Dexter killing the billionaire and escaping on the latter's luxury yacht. Dexter managed to get his hands on Prater's files with information on several serial killers. The upcoming season will likely feature the antihero targeting these notorious individuals to quench his thirst for killing. If filming does begin in late April, the 10-episode series may premiere in late 2026, and fans are eager to see what lies ahead for Dexter.
