What is Queen Charlotte sniffing in 'Bridgerton'?

In the first season of 'Bridgerton', which is currently streaming on Netflix, we see Queen Charlotte often sniff a powdered substance, and everyone's mind screams cocaine! We don't blame you, that's where our thoughts led us too, but that's where some interesting research comes in.

In an interview, the very talented Golda Rosheuvel who plays the queen elaborated a little more on the snuff, to put everyone's mind at ease, as per Decider. It definitely wasn't cocaine, but instead, it was tobacco! She reassured her fans and the viewers that the character of Queen Charlotte was simply a fan of that substance. Back in the day, tobacco was consumed in that form. You can't blame Queen Charlotte, vapes and cigarettes just didn't exist back then.
