What happened to Kiara Alfaro? Here’s why ‘Pitt’ Season 2’s key character was replaced
The recently aired second episode from Season 2 of 'The Pitt' chronicled the events in between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Centre (PTMC) with incisive detail. The new season on HBO has brought in a few new faces, including Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, played by Sepideh Moafi, and medical students Joy Kwon and James Ogilvie, as per a report by Time. Among the other returning cast members on the show, one particular character was conspicuous by her absence. The sophomore season has yet to feature our favourite social worker, Kiara Alfaro, played by Krystel V. McNeil.
Members of the audience haven't forgotten Alfaro's contribution to keeping the emergency room running during the debut season of the R. Scott Gemmill show. Whether it was a grieving parent or a family member coping with a tragic loss, Alfaro was always present with a compassionate ear and an innate ability to empathise. Her close coordination with the doctors and the rest of the nursing staff enabled her to stay abreast of every case presented to her and to provide the best of her services in the care and rehabilitation of the patients.
The fact that Alfaro is missing from the sophomore season of 'The Pitt' isn't due to the character being written out behind the scenes. As explained by ScreenRant, 'The Pitt' follows the real-life employee turnover that exists in a hospital. That is to say that at any given time, several doctors and staff members are on shift while others are on leave, only to return to their duties later in the rotation. This is also the case with Dr. Collins's disappearance from the ongoing season. Thus, as the show's creator reiterated, Alfaro isn't working on the particular shift that lasts throughout the second season.
Moreover, the events of the second season of the HBO show take place through the 4th of July. Thus, it is fair to assume that Alfaro has taken the day off to attend some party or another. During a revealing moment from the latest episode, Katherine LaNasa's Dana Evans was heard mentioning that Alfaro had taken the week off. As a replacement for Alfaro, the medical drama introduced Becca Blackwell as the other social worker on duty, Dylan Easton.
Although this was the first time audiences saw them on the show, it seemed like Dr. Robby had known them for a long time, given the way they greeted each other with familiarity. In terms of his professional service, Easton came across as someone cautious and meticulous in their approach. 'The Pitt' season two has thirteen more episodes to air, and new episodes will drop every week on Thursday exclusively on HBO Max.
