As 'High Potential' Season 2 returns, a new promo has fans buzzing about a possible Morgan-Karadec romance
For fans of the hit ABC crime comedy drama 'High Potential', the long wait is finally over! The show previously aired its last episode on October 28, 2025, before venturing into its mid-season hiatus. As the New Year 2026 is here, the ABC show returned for its winter premiere by airing its eighth episode on January 6 at 9 pm ET on ABC. The rest of the show's sophomore season teases further developments in the relationship between LAPD crime consultant Morgan Gillory, played by Kaitlin Olson, and Detective Adam Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata.
The marketing team behind 'High Potential' Season 2 had previously released an exclusive promo for the eighth episode titled 'Under the Rug'. The promo clip, which was shared by the show's Instagram handle, had the caption, "Morgan Gillory is anything but predictable 👏, Watch her and the rest of the team solve cases in the winter premiere of #HighPotential, returning January 6 on ABC and stream on Hulu."
The clip depicted Morgan once again diving headlong into new crime scenes using her characteristic unorthodox methods of crime-solving. Furthermore, Morgan's romantic encounters with art dealer and recovery specialist Rhys Eastman were established, as per a report by Good Housekeeping. Finally, Karadec was seen getting involved in a supposed romantic altercation with Morgan after the latter discovered a woman staying over at his flat. Ardent fans of the show couldn't get more of the work couple dynamic between Morgan and Karadec, and several of them demanded that their relationship be taken to the next level on the show.
One user commented, "The tension between Morgan and Adam is EVERYTHING 😍," while another user wrote, "Noooooooo karadec and Morgan are endgame ❤️". A third user declared, "I can’t wait…. You'd better start on season 3 because this waiting is horrible…." It is interesting to note that showrunner Todd Harthan had previously hinted at Morgan and Karadec's relationship taking an unexpected turn with the introduction of a new character in an exclusive interview with TV Insider in November, 2025, "[A new character] comes into Karadec's orbit, that is really gonna shake things up, both personally and professionally. It's something we haven't quite done yet on the show with his character ... We just started filming with the actor playing the part. It'll be an exciting, splashy piece of casting."
'High Potential' also stars Deniz Akdeniz, Javicia Leslie, Amirah J, Judy Reyes, and Matthew Lamb alongside Olson and Sunjata. The show is based on the French show 'Haut Potentiel Intellectuel' and chronicles the trials and tribulations of a single mother, Morgan, after she takes up the job of a crime consultant for the Los Angeles Police Department. 'High Potential' Season 2 airs new episodes every Tuesday at 8 pm ET on ABC, followed by their availability for streaming on Hulu the next day.
