What happened between Michael Ilesanmi and Angela Deem? '90 Day Fiance' star pulls the plug
JEFF DAVIS COUNTY, GEORGIA: Angela Deem, star of '90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After', is divorcing her co-star Michael Ilesanmi. She is taking steps to have their marriage annulled.
In June, Angela filed for annulment, as exclusively reported by Starcasm. The complaint was signed on June 17 and formally submitted to Jeff Davis County, Georgia, on June 20.
In Georgia, annulments can be granted under several conditions. The one that seems to apply to Angela and Michael's situation is "one party was fraudulently misled into the marriage. Angela is presenting the following justification for the annulment to persuade the court that her marriage to Michael meets the criteria for being fraudulently misled.
"The respondent fraudulently induced Petitioner into a marriage for the purpose of gaining legal permanent resident status in the United States. After respondent abandoned the Petitioner, Petitioner discovered that the respondent was engaged in a conspiracy with other Nigerian men to induce US citizens into marriage for the purpose of gaining legal permanent resident status."
'90 Day Fiance' star Angela Deem claims to not know about Michael Ilesanmi's whereabouts
An affidavit was filed along with the annulment complaint, in which Angela states that she is unable to serve Michael because his whereabouts are unknown. She wrote in the affidavit, "A diligent search has been made, and the Respondent cannot be found within the State. I do not know where the Respondent lives or where the Respondent can be found."
Extra details from the affidavit as extracted by Starcasm, "The petitioner [sic] is not from this country and I do not have contacts for his family in Nigeria. He abandoned the marital residence in Hazlehurst, and he has not contacted me. He only arrived in this country in December of 2023 so I do not have any information about his known associates."
'90 Day Fiancé' star Michael Ilesanmi has been ordered to respond within 60 days
Angela requested permission to serve Michael via publication, given that his whereabouts are unknown. In other words, if the annulment case were made public, it would fulfill the requirement for serving him with the lawsuit.
An Order for Service by Publication was officially filed on June 24, following a judge's signature on June 21. There have been no new filings in the case since then, and the judge's ruling left the exact date of publication unspecified.
Michael must serve his response "within sixty (60) days of the date of the first publication of notice," per the original motion. As previously indicated, the filings do not include the date of the notice's initial publication. There are just a few weeks left for Michael to reply if the order itself counts as notice.
Why did '90 Day Fiance's Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi split?
The news that Angela and Michael separated in January 2023 was first reported by In Touch. "Angela and Michael are not together," one insider disclosed without reservation. However, the split was brief, as In Touch exclusively reported in March 2023 that the couple had reconciled, with a source verifying the news.
The insider told In Touch, "Michael did cheat on her, and Angela got back with him." A few months later, Angela seemed to confirm her reconciliation with Michael on Instagram. She posted a cryptic, stitched photo of the two of them, accompanied by a heart emoji and the phrase, "QUEEN HAS SPOKEN."
After sharing an older picture of herself with Michael and his family, Angela said on January 22, 2024, that she was still in a relationship with him. Angela wrote, "Mias yall," as the Instagram post's description.
However, when Michael arrived in the US in December 2023, the situation changed. After speculation about his absence and reappearance in February, Michael took a two-month break from social media. He returned on May 3, 2024, and shared his first selfie without his wedding band.
Given that Angela shared an insightful piece titled "Why Michael Ilesanmi Doesn't Deserve Sympathy" the day before he returned to social media, it seems clear that the pair have not reconciled.

A few weeks later, Michael posted a video on his Instagram Stories titled "Why Are You Still Single?" suggesting that he was not dating. That same month, Angela and Michael filmed the premiere of '90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?' Season 8. The spin-off featured the couple as they interviewed for Michael's spousal visa.
When Angela reprimanded Michael for celebrating the Fourth of July in July 2024, it suggested that they still hadn't reconciled. In an Instagram video shared on the occasion, she said, "Hi queens and kings, I just wanna ask a question." "How can a Nigerian, and a bunch of ‘em, celebrate my country’s July the 4th on my visa?"
Angela seemed to be filming the brief footage while seated at an airport. Her video appeared to be a reaction to several recordings Michael had shared on his Instagram Stories, which documented how he celebrated his first Independence Day in the United States since moving there.
In one clip, people were seated in lawn chairs enjoying a barbecue, while another showed food being grilled. Michael also shared several fans' "Happy Independence Day" and "Happy 4th of July" greetings.
