Why did Amaya and Bryan break up? ‘Love Island USA’ 7 winners drop bombshell on 'Beyond the Villa'
‘Love Island USA’ Season 7 crowned Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales as the winners, and the two took home $100,000. However, America’s #1 couple from the show broke up shortly after the reunion was filmed. After the show ended, the two seemed excited to get to know each other in the outside world. During their July 17, 2025, joint interview with Decider, the two talked about meeting each other’s families and more. Bryan said, “I think the next steps are to just catch up with family and go see family and eventually get our families to meet each other. We want to see each other’s family. We’re both huge on family.”
By August 27, 2025, Espinal shared a series of stories via Instagram, announcing her split from Arenales. She wrote, “My papayas - Bryan and I are no longer together. After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys. Our visions didn’t align and relationships are supposed to be a team sport. You don’t have to drink the whole sea to know it’s salty. All love here, and I truly wish him the best.” Recently, 'Love Island: Beyond the Villa' Season 2 premiered with Espinal and Arenales as part of the cast. The two opened up about their split and shared what actually happened.

Espinal mentioned that Arenales was going to meet her family, but he did not because of a stomachache. Things got intense when she learned that he went “back out at a bar drinking again,” the night he was supposed to meet her family. Responding to this, Arenales noted that he and Espinal got into an “extremely bad argument” before meeting her family. Espinal stated that Arenales broke up with her via a text message after the reunion was filmed. Additionally, she revealed that it was shortly after being intimate with him for the first time. “It was my first time being intimate with him - he knows how serious I take that and that I’m not an easy girl - and then, boom, he breaks up with me through text message.” She referred to Arenales’s actions as “coward behavior.”
Espinal got emotional in a private confessional as she mentioned she thought they were “gonna be end game.” Similarly, there was another couple from 'Love Island USA' Season 7, Iris Kendall and Pepe Garcia, who also broke up after the show ended. Iris shared that they broke up because she “was getting messages from girls telling me horrible things about Pepe.” She also talked about the cheating allegations and how she was “not okay” with that. After their breakup, she has been with fellow cast member TJ Palma.
