LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The 'Child’s Play' franchise is set to release an in-depth documentary, titled, ‘Living with Chucky’, from the perspective of the filmmaker who grew up alongside Chucky, the killer doll. The documentary is set to explore what it means to be a part of the ‘Chucky’ family.

Daughter of legendary special effects artist Tony Gardner, Kyra Elise is writer and director of the horror documentary while Jason Strickland serves as producer. Here's all you need to know about the upcoming documentary.

When will 'Living with Chucky' release?

'Living with Chucky' will release digitally on SCREAMBOX on April 4, and the documentary’s Blu-ray will be available on April 21.

How to watch 'Living with Chucky'?

In US and Canada, the documentary will be available on SCREAMBOX. Screambox is available on iOS, Android, Prime Video, YouTube TV, Comcast and Screambox.com, which has been redesigned. From April 24, 'Living with Chucky' will be available to rent or buy in the UK and Ireland via Apple TV+, Sky Store, Virgin Media, and Google Play.

What is the plot of 'Living with Chucky'?

Kyra, who grew up alongside Chucky, the killer doll, gives us a look at the origin of the 'Child's Play' franchise as well as her connection with the series and how it affected her family. She calls Chucky her little brother she grew up with. 

Kyra seeks out some other families connected with the 'Child's Play' movies goes on to discuss their time working on the continuing franchise and what it meant to be a part of the ‘Chucky’ family. ‘Living with Chucky’ enlists franchise veterans that can provide behind-the-scenes observations and production details.

The documentary utilizes new and archival interview footage to shpw the franchise's cultural impact over the years. The cast includes crew members including Don Mancini, Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Christine Elise, Tony Gardner and David Kirshner, along with famous fans of the franchise including Marlon Wayans, John Waters and Abigail Breslin.

What is the buzz around ‘Living With Chucky’?

Chucky, the homicidal psycho doll, frightened audiences in 1988, when the first movie in the franchise, 'Child's Play,' was released and received widespread acclaim. The film quickly captured the public's interest, resulting in sequels 1990 and 2004.

Gardner has been the man behind Chucky for the past three movies and TV series, so his daughter, Kyra, was the perfect choice to share her memories of growing up with Chucky. She obediently watches each movie, evaluating different aspects, particularly 'Seed of Chucky', which was the first movie her father worked on while attempting to create Chucky, and it was also the first time the series' LGBTQIA+ themes were brought to the fore.
