Season 4 of 'Welcome To Plathville' might be witnessing Kim and Barry's divorce, but with it comes a rather unexpected possibility -- That of Ethan and Kim mending their fractured relationship. Ever since their fallout, Kim and Ethan have maintained a considerable distance, with Ethan not wanting to cross paths with his mother. But now, with the divorce taking place, he decided it was time to talk to her, seeing that he did come around to talking to his father.

Ethan wasn't expecting much from this conversation, but the same could not be said about Kim. For her, she saw this as a chance to finally work on their relationship and was apprehensive about how it might turn out, seeing that one wrong move on her end would only push him away further.

As the pair sat down, Ethan didn't waste a minute -- he not only asked about the divorce but also brought up the way she had raised them. He pointed out that while he understood the divorce was something Kim had to do, but also called her out on the hypocrisy of it all, seeing that his whole childhood he was taught that it was wrong and that he was only allowed to date a person he intended on marrying. Apart from this, he called her out on how she failed the kids on the educational front, seeing that homeschooling left him behind compared to other kids his age. Kim defended herself saying that her focus was more on catering to the children's interests and even mentioned that getting Ethan to study was like pulling out nails. However, her reasoning didn't seem good enough as Ethan continued to feel as though she failed them and fans agreed with him as well.

"So the kids basically weren’t educated for the purpose of general knowledge but based on their likes?! Wtf. #welcometoplathville" tweeted a fan. "Kids had a poor education and very little socialization. It has not served them well. #WelcomeToPlathville" added another. "Kim can enforce the rule of no TV, no phones, no sugar — but she couldn’t enforce making Ethan read a book?? I’m calling bullshit on this entire conversation. She never practiced what she preached. #welcometoplathville @TLC" wrote a fan. "Ethan resents Kim because she failed him, she’s a hypocrite, and she’s doing a two step around accountability. #welcometoplathville" said another. "I get where Ethan is coming from being upset about how Kim and Barry sheltered him. That's all I'll say. I completely get it #WelcomeToPlathville" tweeted a fan.

Kim noted that while she tried to overcome her own mother's shortcomings, it created some of her own and the fact that Ethan felt as though it was all deliberate seemed unfathomable. However, Ethan did not that Kim was being a lot more receptive towards what he had to say, which was a far cry from the person she once was. Although tiny, it looks like there might just be a sliver of hope when it comes to fixing their relationship.

'Welcome To Plathville' Season 4 airs on Tuesdays at 10 pm ET/PT on TLC.
