RADOM, POLAND: In the midst of the heartbreaking depiction of the Holocaust in 'We Were the Lucky Ones', Episode 5 of the show reveals a romantic element that may potentially lead to further emotional turmoil in later episodes.

The series, created by Erica Lipez, is based on the true story of a family who battled to survive during one of the most embarrassing periods in human history.

The show portrayed Mila Kurc (Hadas Yaron) as a mother who is fighting to protect her little daughter Felicia (Belle Swarc) from a growing anti-Semitic environment.

However, there is a glimmer of hope when Mila's childhood friend and Jewish policeman Isaac (Ido Samuel) lends her assistance.

Things take a sharp turn when it is revealed that Isaac has strong feelings for the now-single mother, Mila.

What transpired between Isaac and Mila Kurc in 'We Were the Lucky Ones'?

Things are going to get tricky for Mila Kurc as Isaac's genuine feelings for her start to surface in the fifth episode of 'We were the Lucky Ones' (@hulu)

Mila appeared anxious following her abortive attempt to escape to Palestine, but it was Isaac who gave her comfort and convinced her that he would take great care of both Felicia and her.

Nevertheless, it is evident from his actions that the man harbors deeper affection for Mila, which becomes even more evident when Mila extends an invitation for him to stay with them.

With a dejected look, he inquired about the dynamics of their connection and whether he would remain Felicia's uncle.

His desire for a more substantial response from Mila, one that would confirm her affection for him, was evident even in that look.

How did Mila Kurc respond to Isaac's confession?

Though it couldn't be strictly called a confession, it was very close to it.

Mila, who already had more than enough on her plate, acted wisely and sensitively and chose to ignore his gesture or, as they say, let her silence speak for itself.

Justifiably, her silence caused Isaac to become estranged, and the childhood pal departed the premises.

What lies in store for Isaac and Mila Kurc in the future?

So, it's clear that Mila is struggling to protect her daughter Felicia from the prying eyes of Germans, especially since her husband Selim (Michael Aloni), vanished.

While initially hoping that Selim was still alive, Mila eventually faces the grim reality of her husband's likely demise at the hands of the Germans.

As Mila leans on her childhood friend Isaac for support during these challenging times, their relationship could evolve into something more romantic.

It's probable that she gets into a loveless relationship with Isaac, but eventually falls in love with him.

However, it should also be noted, that Selim's status remains uncertain, leaving the possibility of his return open.

Selim could possibly return, which would only heighten the drama in this love tale and perhaps even transform it into a triangle.
