RADOM, POLAND: The heartbreaking story of a Jewish family's survival in the most horrific of times is depicted in Hulu's ongoing drama 'We Were the Lucky Ones'.

Based on Georgia Hunter's novel of the same name, the series follows the struggles of the Kurc family throughout the Holocaust, weaving a beautiful but devastating journey of loss, resilience, and unshakeable familial love.

The series depicts Mila Kurc's (Hadas Yaron) struggle to protect her daughter Felicia (Belle Swarc) as the Nazi occupation reaches its zenith in Poland.

In the middle of all this, Mila makes a life-threatening decision that will determine whether she and Felicia survive. So, what exactly was the decision about? Let's plunge in and find out.

Episode 4 of the series introduced us to Mila's endearing battle to protect Felicia from the Nazis' snooping eyes.

Mila's lack of enthusiasm for motherhood was introduced to us at the beginning of the series. But the recent shift, which sees her keep Felicia safe in the face of increasing danger beautifully illustrates the essence of maternal love.

A prime example of this new development occurred when Mila took action to protect her daughter after an unexpected German military inspection put her safety in jeopardy.

What plans did Mila Kurc have for her and Felicia?

As the story goes on, Mila sees a glimmer of hope and decides to take her daughter to Palestine, which is a fairly safer place for Jews to live.

They say mother's love conquers all, which is well showcased in the series as driven by maternal instincts, Mila daringly flees until soldiers stop her cargo. However, exhibiting her wits she succeeds in securing Felicia.

As the episode reaches its concluding moments Mila runs off to rejoin Felicia, leaving us to wonder what will become of her.

Mila has a good chance of surviving the assault and, it's possible that alongside Felicia, she will set off on an even more dramatic journey to bring her to safety.

It's also likely that she will reconnect with her missing husband Selim (Michael Aloni) at this time, and will probably learn the harsh reality of his wartime experience.

The first 4 episodes of 'We Were the Lucky Ones' are now streaming on Hulu.
