JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA: Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker took the world by storm in the 1998 movie ‘Rush Hour’. The movie primarily focuses on Lee and Carter, two detectives from Hong Kong and Los Angeles, working together to find the daughter of the Chinese consul young daughter who is kidnapped by the goons of crime lord Jun Tao. The first movie turned out to be a huge commercial success and earned more than $244 million globally and spawned two more sequels that also made a lot of money. The last film in the franchise came out in 2007 and since then, fans have been requesting Chan and Tucker to come back with another film.

Almost 15 years after the third film, Chan has finally revealed that he is in talks to make the fourth film in the franchise and will be meeting with the movie’s helmer to discuss the script. The actor made an appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and discussed the idea of a fourth film.

“We’re talking about part 4 right now,” Chan told the festival crowd (via Deadline).
The superstar didn’t reveal the name of the director and kept everything else under wraps. All three previous movies have been helmed by Brett Ratner.

Even though Jackie Chan was already an international star by then, the actor felt that ‘Rush Hour’ will bomb at the box office and wanted to quit Hollywood because he didn’t receive interesting roles in the American film industry.  He said, “I tried so many times to go to Hollywood, but after that, I said no more Hollywood because my English is not good, they’re not my culture, and they don’t like this kind of action.”

Chan is an integral part of the franchise. However, it would be a travesty if Chris Tucker doesn’t return for the fourth movie. The relationship or camaraderie between Chan and Tucker was the best part of the movie and made the franchise so enjoyable.

The announcement of ‘Rush Hour 4’ is undoubtedly interesting and fans would love to see the duo together on the big screen. We hope that the filming starts soon and that Chan and Tucker make us laugh out loud once again.
