Jackie Chan has denied reports that he has contracted the coronavirus and was placed under quarantine. The actor recently took to Instagram to say that he’s 'safe and sound, and very healthy'.

After rumors of the actor being quarantined started doing the round, fans grew concerned for the actor's health and started sending him messages and even face masks as the deadly virus spreads through respiratory droplets from coughing and sneezing.

The 65-year-old actor then took to his social media to reassure fans that he was fine and asked them not to worry about him. “Thanks for everybody's concern! I'm safe and sound, and very healthy,' he shared on Instagram. "Please don't worry, I'm not in quarantine. I hope everyone stays safe and healthy too!"

On his website, he thanked his fans for their "thoughtful" gifts. “I've also received some very special gifts from fans all over the world during this very difficult time. Thank you for the face masks. Your thoughtfulness is well received! And I've asked my lovely staff to donate your kindness through official organizations to those who need it most.”

Aside from donating the face masks to the needy people, the actor also announced that he would be offering a prize of $197,000 as a reward for anyone who comes up with an antidote for the deadly virus, since there is no vaccine or any specific treatment in place for it.

He posted on his Weibo page (a Chinese social media platform) about his hopes for finding an antidote soon. “Science and technology are key to overcoming the virus, and I believe many people have the same thought as me and hope that an antidote can be developed as soon as possible.” The Hong Kong native actor also postponed the release of his latest film ‘Vanguard’ amidst fears of the virus spreading in movie theatres.

After claiming the lives of over 2,900 people and leaving 84,000 people sick, the novel coronavirus—also known as COVID-19—is causing panic amongst the public. The virus which originated in the Wuhan province of China has managed to spread across the globe at an alarming pace.
