Was Enkh-Erdene lip-syncing? 'AGT: Fantasy League' judge Howie Mandel accuses Mongolian cowboy as he sings Hollywood song
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Mongolian Got Talent' Season 2 winner Enkh-Erdene recently took to the 'America's Got Talent: Fantasy League' stage and wowed the judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel. The Mongolian Cowboy performed Garth Brooks' song 'Friends in Low Places'.
However, Howie was stunned after hearing an English verse from a Mongolian singer and asked him during the performance whether he was lip-syncing. Soon after Enkh concluded his performance, Howie noted, "I don't... I feel like Mel B I'm confused. Was he lip-syncing?"
Heidi, who mentored Enkh, said, "No of course not. No one can lip-sync on AGT." She debunked Howie's accusation and said, "Don't judge a book by its cover Howie Mandel."
Howie was still baffled and questioned, "How did you even know this kind of music? How did you get into this kind of music?" Meanwhile, Simon, who was highly impressed by Enkh's performance, replied to Howie, "This is called the internet.."
The 'AGT' spinoff show judge added "I'm not surprised. This is exactly what this young man should be singing. Your tone is stunning. Absolutely stunning. I love this performance." Mel B also enjoyed Enkh's song and suggested, "What I would like to see is the music just stopped and for you to do like an acapella. I need to hear this kind of thing."
Why did Heidi Klum chose Enkh-Erdene to mentor?
Just before Heidi Klum, NBC show judge Simon Cowell had eyes on Enkh-Erdene during drafting. However, Heidi took the first step and chose Enkh to include him in her Dream team and provide him with her mentorship.
Heidi also revealed the reason behind choosing the Mongolian cowboy and noted, "I chose you because your voice is amazing and because you are a winner and I like winning also."
While Enkh was thrilled to be on Heidi's dream team, he admitted that he was a bit nervous. He shared in the confessional, "Of course, almost every time I go on stage, I get nervous to some extent."
Heidi tried to calm him down and said, "So I think it's important to project because you have a star voice."
'AGT: Fantasy League' contestant Enkh-Erdene reflects on his 'biggest dream'
'AGT' spinoff show contestant Enkh-Erdene brought a storm among the audience with his English-speaking version of George Strait's 'Amarillo by Morning' on the 'Mongolia Got Talent' stage. He later earned spots on talent shows around the globe.
Enkh's acoustics helped him to gain nationwide popularity and win the 'Got Talent' coveted title. He later competed in the lone season of the CBS show 'The World's Best', but he was unfortunately eliminated after the Battle Round.
The Mongolian cowboy never lost hope and made a grand comeback with his debut album, Amidral Bayan, in 2023. Enkh's new album collection included tracks such as 'Chamtai L Uldene,' 'Chi Minii Zam,' and 'Epilogue.'
However, during his recent appearance at 'AGT: Fantasy League', Enkh reflected on his biggest dream. He shared to the cameras, "My dream was to become a singer that's why I participated in Mongolia's Got Talent in 2016." He added, "My biggest dream is to become a star known worldwide. This is my opportunity to achieve my dream."
'America's Got Talent: Fantasy League' airs on Mondays at 8 pm ET on NBC.
