LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: 'AGT: Fantasy League' is poised for its premiere on January 1 at 8/7c on NBC, boasting a distinctive feature with unprecedented judge participation in the competition.

Diverging from the traditional 'America's Got Talent' format, where contestants of various ages and talents present minute-long performances for evaluation by the judges, 'AGT: Fantasy League' introduces a new dynamic.

Hosted by Terry Crews, the show features 40 viewer-voted contestants, including notable names like Billy England, Emily England, Adrain Stoic, Aidan Bryant, and many more.

In this unique season, judges Mel B, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel each assemble a roster of 10 acts from the Top 40 competitors announced in November 2023.

Throughout the season, these judges-turned-mentors will guide and support their chosen acts in every round. The stakes are high, with the winning act securing a $250,000 grand prize, while the victorious mentor earns the coveted title of the first-ever 'AGT: Fantasy League' champion.

The upcoming season promises an innovative blend of mentorship and competition, leaving audiences eager to witness how this novel format unfolds on the 'AGT' stage.

However, fans think that judges won't be a suitable match to judge this spin-off season. As they are getting involved, while mentoring the contestants, they might be biased towards their contestants.

The fans also thought that the judges did not have enough talent to judge the show.

They wrote in the YouTube comments section, "I am open to the concept, except calling them mentors doesn't make a lot of sense, since it's the top acts. Are any of the judges going to improve Darci, Kodi, Sofie, etc? lol, They are already the best," a comment read.

The new format of the show has left a few fans concerned as they wrote, "I’m gonna miss the red buzzer this season tho. The red buzzer should be used once at least to block another team from going through it would make you the villain but make things spicy."

Some found it pretty similar to other shows as they wrote in a Reddit Post, "I’m assuming it’s gonna be something like the battle of the judges from France’s Got Talent. Each judge has a team, hence the name fantasy league but I’m excited to see how it’ll all play out!"

Who are the judges for 'AGT: Fantasy League'?

The judges of the 'AGT: Fantasy League' are Mel B, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel. In this season, the judges wield increased influence as mentors during auditions.

If a judge opts to use their Golden Buzzer on an act not part of their set team, it signifies the judge's decision to mentor that performer, necessitating the act to leave their previous mentor behind.

Fans worry as judges don't have enough expertise to mentor contestants

Several 'AGT' fans have taken to social media platforms to voice out whether the judges are capable enough to judge the already famous talented contestant.

They are not able to understand how and on what talent basis will the judges judge the already famous and loved contestants.

A Reddit post read, "I am wondering if Fantasy League will be similar to all-stars or champions? or are they doing an entirely new spinoff banking on the new idea that judges take acts under their wing similar to the voice? that is interesting because Simon has no talent to mentor. Mel B can mentor singers since she is a spice girl but that is about it. Heidi can mentor super models lol ? and Howie can only mentor comedians. They can give them advice as to how to present themself and how to deal with fame and stuff but as far as helping with their act I don't think much of that will be going on. Something like "Simon gave the idea to add fire to our act" will happen but in reality, they had fire planned the whole time. The spinoff shows are much shorter too which makes it interesting. Shoutout to AGT Xtreme!"

Is 'AGT: Fantasy League' similar to NBC's 'The Voice'?

A Reddit thread mentioned, how this is a season is a rip-off of NBC's 'The Voice'.

This season will feature 60 nominated acts from the producers and America will get to select their favourite 40 through votes. The 40 selected stars would be allowed in four batches, ten contestants for each judge.

There will be the Golden Buzzer which would be meant to steal acts from another team and also send certain acts to the finale. The buzzer would be quite similar to that of Voice where contestants are snatched with a press on the buzzer during blind auditions.

Fans took to social media and wrote, "American Idol, AGT, they are now just begging/stretching for another spin-off and taking off features of other shows....."
