This preview contains spoilers for Season 4 episodes of 'Van Helsing'.

In the previous episode of 'Van Helsing', Axel Miller (Jonathan Scarfe) is seen angry about the death of Scarlett Harker (Missy Peregrym) and vows to seek revenge against Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton).

He meets Max (Richard Harmon), whose near-endless supply of alcohol endears to him as the latter sets up Axel with a job transporting alcohol and other supplies in exchange for getting his fair share of the booze.

However, unknown to Axel, Max has a violent side and takes pleasure in torturing the prisoners at Loveland where he is a warden.

Max tortures Flesh (Vincent Gale) and Jolene (Caroline Cave) who have been captured. Jolene manages to capture Axel's attention on his shipment run, but the latter leaves without doing anything.

The first question viewers will ask is whether Axel will come back with reinforcements to rescue Flesh and Jolene. However, the promo and the synopsis for the next episode indicate that the story will be mainly about the fraught relationship between Axel and Vanessa.

In a sneak peek released by Syfy for 'Broken Promises', we see Vanessa chasing a group of vampires. She has chosen the light side for now, but viewers are worried whether she might be enticed by the dark side again.

In a voiceover in the sneak peek, Vanessa reflects on the mistakes she has made and the damage she has caused as four vampires close in on her. Now, she has understood that she was following the wrong path — the path of darkness. Now, she knows what is right for her.

Axel finds out about the vampires at a bar and goes on the hunt to find her. However, from the synopsis, it looks like Axel will be reconciling with Vanessa and come to terms with Scarlett's death.

We're sure the road to reconciliation will be quite bloody. In the promo, we also see the Sisterhood trying to raise someone named Mikaela, who they call "the great mother of the sisters".

'Van Helsing' Season 4 Episode 4 will air on Syfy October 18.
