'Tyler Perry's Assisted Living' just premiered and by the looks of it, it's not a hit with fans. The show surrounding a crazy old grumpy grandpa with a penchant for 'nasty' magazines, a hook-arm, and a new business venture in the form of a tattered old home that he wants to profit from. Grandpa Vinny's grandson Jeremy, his wife Leah, and two kids come to live with the family patriarch and while the rest of them are having a hard time adjusting to the shift, Jeremy seems to be fine with it mostly.

In fact, he coaxes his grandpa forward about the business venture, and all hell breaks loose when Mr Brown and his daughter Cora show a desperate interest in investing in Vinny's business. The tug of war between Vinny and Mr Brown becomes the crux of the story and its plot, but fans are not having any of that. Taking to Twitter, fans have now expressed their disappointment in what was supposed to be Perry's big come back sitcom, shading what they are now calling is a poorly written comedy that's somehow "supposed to be funny?"

"Assisted Living is so lame. Tyler Perry could’ve kept that one," wrote a fan on Twitter.

Another fan resonated with the above sentiments and tagged the soap opera maestro writing, "you could’ve kept this show in your 'writer’s room.'"

Another chimed in with complaints asking, "Tyler perry assisted living suppose to b funny ??"

A third fan elaborated how "Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living is BAD. Very bad. Watched two episodes that could’ve been condensed into half an episode. Tyler, you need a writers room. And stop pushing out content just to push it out."

Some fans were also of the opinion that the entire series looked like a staged play. "This new Tyler Perry show Assisted Living is AWFUL! Looks low budget and like a stage play. BET I know we want to help our own but this is a mess!"

'Assisted Living' premiered with two back to back episodes 'The Pilot 101' and 'A Talk with Pa' and is supposed to foow suit next Wednesday. Hopefully, Perry has more convincing comedy in store for his fans in the second lot of episodes!
