'Turning Red': 5 things to know about animated Disney+ movie

What's better than reminiscing about your childhood? Watching animated movies, that's right! What's more, Pixar always has some of the best movies out there; and you can bet there's something for everyone, age no bar. 

The upcoming animated movie on Disney+ is about Meilin Lee (voiced by Rosalie Chiang), a boisterous 13-year old who somehow transforms into a humongous red panda every time she gets remotely excited. The plot sure does look intriguing. Read more for further details.

When does 'Turning Red' release and where can you watch it?

'Turning Red' releases on March 11, 2022, and can be watched on DIsney+.

What is 'Turning Red' all about?

The official synopsis reads: "A 13-year-old girl named Mei Lee turns into a giant red panda whenever she gets too excited". 

Who stars in the animated movie?

Rosalie Chiang as the voiceover for Meilin Lee

Born and raised in California, Rosalie Chiang has bagged the lead role in Pixar's upcoming movie 'Turning Red'. She has also played the lead in the 2018 USC MFA's thesis film called 'Soiled'. In 2017, Chiang played the role of a principal in Yamaha Piano's first TV commercial in the States. 

What's more, Chiang has two published poetry books to her credit - 'A is for Albatross: Birds A to Z' and 'A is for Arowana: Freshwater Fish A to Z'. The former book won her the Skipping Stone Honor Book Award in the year 2017. Chaing is fluent in Mandarin and is of both Taiwanese and Singaporean descent. She enjoys playing the piano, dancing hip hop style, baking, and traveling at her leisure. 



 

The cast includes voiceovers for their respective characters: Sandra Oh as Ming, Ava Morse as Miriam, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Priya, Hyein Park as Abby, Jordan Fisher as Robaire - 4*Town Member, Finneas O'Connell as Jesse - 4*Town Member, Wai Ching Ho as Grandma,  Anne-Marie as Lauren, Orion Lee as Jin, Addison Chandler as Devon.

Other cast members are James Hong, Sasha Roiz, Lori Tan Chinn, Sherry Cola, Lily Sanfelippo and Grayson Villanueva.

Showrunners

The movie is written by Julia Cho, and Domee Shi, with the latter serving as the director as well.
