The episode begins with the disturbing discovery of the bodies of eight missing men. The bodies that were frozen to death in the snow had their ears busted, self-inflected bite wounds, and burned eyeballs.

Observing the events unfolding from a distance, Navarro confides to the Rose that the case is definitely linked to the brutal murder of ingenious woman Anne Kowtok, whose tongue was severed.

On digging deeper, Liz discovers that Tsaalal is working to find a cure for cancer by arranging the DNA of an extinct microorganism.

In this episode, Rose reveals her unique ability to see the dead, shedding light on Navarro's reason for migrating to town.

During a pivotal scene, Rose skillfully etches a unique symbol onto the snow, conveying to Navarro that the sign predates Ennis.

Upon closer examination of the bodies, Liz and Peter deduce that hypothermia may have induced irrational behavior, contributing to the self-inflicted wounds. As the investigation progresses, a breakthrough occurs when they uncover a video on one of the victim's phones.

The footage captures a man acting strangely and exclaiming, "She's awake!" This cryptic revelation adds a new dimension to the unfolding mystery.

Navarro informs Denver about a victim with an identical tattoo to Annie's, but Liz dismisses the connection. Upon discovering the Tsalal chief's matching tattoo, Liz reconsiders. She approaches Evangeline, suggesting they collaborate, and they agree.

Navarro finds Clark's secret trailer hideout, and she and Liz uncover his affair with Annie. Strange symbols and bones of seals and caribou add to the mystery. Shockingly, Clark's body isn't among the dead scientists, hinting that he's still alive.

The episode closes with this unsettling revelation.
