We have seen a huge influx of animated series in recent times. Streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have come out with some of the finest animated shows in recent years. The latest entry in the league of animated shows is none other than ‘Trese’.

‘Castlevania’, ‘BoJack Horseman’, ‘Invincible’ and ‘Steven Universe’ are some of the shining examples of extraordinary cartoon shows which fans of this genre can look into. 'Trese' is based on the Philippine graphic novel created by Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo. This upcoming horror show follows the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore that live in hiding among humans. A detective named Alexandra Trese goes head to head with diabolical supernatural beings and finds out the truth about them.

The series will be released in Filipino and English versions. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming original anime series.

Air time

‘Trese’ will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on Thursday, June 10.

How to live stream

This horror Netflix Original anime series will be airing on Netflix on June 10 at 9.30 pm EST. Viewers can subscribe to Netflix directly, via a mobile app store (App Store, Google Play). You can also watch it by signing up for the platform’s free trial. Apart from that, viewers can also opt for different subscription plans provided by the streaming giant. A premium plan that allows more people to watch the service on different screens simultaneously, costs $18 per month. Meanwhile, the basic US plan costs $9 per month.

Plot

“Set in Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, detective Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld composed of malevolent supernatural beings. This horror Netflix Original Anime series is based on the Philippine graphic novel created by Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo.”

Cast

Liza Soberano will be voicing Trese in the Filipino language while Shay Mitchell in the English language. Soberano is known for appearing in numerous Filipino projects such as ‘Must Be… Love’, ‘She’s The One’, ‘Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo’, ‘Forevermore’and ‘Bagani’.

On the other hand, Mitchell is a renowned actress known for her roles in ventures such as ‘Pretty Little Liars’, ‘Glee’, ‘Mother’s Day’, The Possession of Hannah Grace’ and ‘You’.

Other actors involved in the project are Jon Jon Briones (Hank), Steve Blum (Datu Talagbusao), Manny Jacinto (Maliksi), and Eric Bauza (Bagyon Lektro).

Creators

The graphic novel has been created for screen by Jay Oliva, Meanwhile, the story is written by Mihk Vergara and Tanya Yuson.
