'Treasure is 12': YG slammed for editing out Yedam and Mashiho while on hiatus

Bang Yedam and Mashiho have gone on a temporary hiatus with Treasure currently promoting with 10 members

Fans were first impressed as YG Entertainment shared that they supported Mashiho and Bang Yedam’s decisions to go on hiatus. On May 27, it was announced that the two idols would be stepping back from their K-pop boy group Treasure. While the boy group initially had 12 members, for the time being, they would be promoting as 10 members as Mashiho and Yedam went on a hiatus. YG revealed that Treasure would be working on a new album as 10 members, a Japanese arena tour and a Korean concert for their second debut anniversary celebration.

And while fans were disheartened that Yedam and Mashiho would not be part of Treasure’s anniversary celebrations, they understood the two members’ reasoning to go on hiatus. Yedam wanted to concentrate on his music studies. As for Mashiho, he shared that he wanted to spend more time with his family in Japan. Fans are still wholeheartedly supporting Treasure as evident with their Japan arena tour being sold out as soon as the tickets went on sale. Unfortunately, YG’s latest photos for the anniversary in which they have allegedly edited out Yedam and Mashiho have not gone well over with fans.

Treasure’s Yedam and Mashiho edited out

Fans had hoped that despite Yedam and Mashiho going on hiatus they would be included in the group’s celebratory posts. And with the two members already filming for content before their hiatus, fans thought that they would still get some OT12 content. Unfortunately, YG has excluded Yedam and Mashiho from photos as old as 2021. Treasure had done a group shoot as 12 members for their ‘TREASURE’s 2021 Summer Camp’. But in behind-the-scenes photos that YG has now released on June 10, the two members who are on hiatus are missing.

YG uploaded selfies and group shots of Treasure during the 2021 summer camp, however, Mashiho and Yedam were not seen. In the group photos, the two have been edited out as there were enough Photoshop mistakes that even amateurs could spot them. The editor had forgotten to edit out Yedam’s shoe and the background where he was standing was blurred. On the other hand, Mashiho is simply cropped out of the group shots.

This has led to fans creating an uproar as they wondered why YG was erasing two members who had simply gone on hiatus. In the past, several groups have seen their members going on hiatus like TWICE’s Jeongyeon or Ateez’s Mingi but they had not been erased from old content.

‘It’s not like they permanently l3ft’

Fans have taken to trending ‘Treasure Is 12’ as they showed their displeasure. One fan tweeted, “Excluding mashidam on summer camp photos because they're on hiatus is not a valid reason to edit out those precious boys they deserve better, treasure deserves better.” Another was angry, “Yg trying their best to edit mashiho and yedam out but they forgot to remove this shoe as well. @ygent_official care to explain?”

One fan asked, “Why the hell @ygent_official would you crop out shiho and yedam when they only went on hiatus? it’s not like they permanently l3ft the group. WHAT IS WITH YOUR TREATMENT?! Treasure is 12 and they will always be!” One fan commented, “Mashiho and Yedam also put a lot of effort into this photo shoot. How could YG leave their photos. TREASURE is 12.”
