Spoilers for 'Tiny Pretty Things'

Episode 5 titled 'Split Sole' was an odd one. Since so much was going on, you end up wondering which information you should focus on. This episode takes us back to Neveah Stroyer's (Kylie Jefferson) past, why her mother was in jail and her brother in a wheelchair. The ballet dancers try to figure out who roofied Cassie Shore (Anna Maiche) and if that was the reason she fell and of course, the weirdest one was Bette gunning for a solo in 'Ripper' in ways she knew ballet master Ramon Costa (Bayardo De Murguia) would listen.

The start of the episode saw Ramon being exceptionally tough on Bette because he blames her for the coup that the students had orchestrated after he was being sexist, rude and essentially an abuser. The students refused to dance during rehearsal which led to Ramon being "reloaded". He decided that he would craft a new 'Ripper', one that the school approves and one that inspired the students. "You are all Jack — you'll each be the killer to destroy," he said. He tells them that they will be wearing a "simple and powerful" costume which ended up being the grey hoodie with the red zipper that was worn by the person who pushed Cassie Shore off the ballet academy's roof. That's, of course, morbid in many ways. This meant that no one got a solo, but Bette wasn't okay with that. She was going to make sure she got one.

Later in the episode, Bette walks in when Ramon is dancing and he says to her, "surprise me, beguile me" and she ends up dancing for him — it was almost seduction. At the end of it, he drops her and walks out. In Episode 4, 'Dance Dance Revolution', Bette told her sister and Ramon's girlfriend Delia Whitlaw (Tory Trowbridge) that Ramon was cheating on her with Cassie when he was in Paris, but Delia had not budged. In this episode, Delia invited Bette and her boyfriend Oren Lennox (Barton Cowperthwaite) over for dinner. Meanwhile, Bette in Episode 4 realized that Oren was messing around with his roommate Shane (Brennan Clost) and so in Episode 5 she tells Oren that she wants a threesome with a guy. Now, granted that at this point Oren didn't know that Bette knew about him and Shane, we assumed that Bette was doing this to make a point. We assumed that the third party would be Shane. Boy, were we wrong.

At the dinner, rebelling as she always does, Bette invites a whole bunch of people to Delia's place and makes a party out of it. There, Oren asked her to meet him in the bathroom where she tells him that she has to have an adult conversation with Ramon and get him on her side. "I'm showing him what I'm capable of, Oren," Bette says and when Oren tells her that she doesn't need Ramon's approval, Bette says that she needs a good solo and Ramon hadn't given her one yet. When Oren gets upset, Bette reveals to him that she knows about Shane. When they go out, Bette offers a nightcap to Ramon and with Oren there, Bette initiates a threesome — "we stuck around to show our appreciation," she tells Oren. She kisses both of them and Oren leaves because he can't handle it. While we thought that Ramon would end up sleeping with Bette only because his track record isn't great, he doesn't, he just asks her to leave after telling her, "this is no way to get what you want".

Turns out that Ramon heard Bette loud and clear because at the end of the episode during rehearsal, not only is Ramon nice to Bette but she also gets her solo.

'Tiny Pretty Things' is now available to stream on Netflix.
