The official synopsis for the film reads, “Thor embarks on a journey unlike anything he's ever faced a quest for inner peace. However, his retirement gets interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher, a galactic killer who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who to his surprise inexplicably wields his magical hammer. Together, they set out on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance.”

The particular scene shows Zeus snapping his fingers to remove Thor's cape and armor, resulting in a funny shot of Hemsworth's bare yet pixelated butt, and muscular body. In a recent interview with Screenrant, ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’s DOP (Director of Photography) Barry Baz Idoine’s talked about how difficult it was to shoot the scene in which Thor bares his butt. “It's incredibly hard to shoot Chris Hemsworth's butt. I mean, nobody concentrates, nobody does their job, everybody's looking at the butt, they're not looking at what they're supposed to be doing. That was a challenge."

In an earlier interview with Comicbook.com, ace filmmaker Taika Waititi spoke about shooting the particular scene with Chris Hemsworth in ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’. He said, "We all knew we wanted to do it from very early on. That was in the first draft of the script actually and Chris was on board as well. You know, I think you have a body like Chris, like, you know, even he understands. It would be just, it would be a waste to not show it off. It would be a crime against humanity. So, you know, it's, you have to provide for the masses."

In a recent new interview with Variety during the red carpet premiere of ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ on Thursday, Chris Hemsworth spilled the beans about doing this particular scene and said, "Well, I had my butt out in Rush many years ago, but in a Marvel film, it was a very large screen, it was a very big pair of cheeks. I don't know, I've seen it before. Whatever."

"It was 10 years in the making, that scene, a dream of mine. The first time I played Thor I took my shirt off and I thought, You know what's gonna sweeten this. A decade from now, it's all going to come off,' he added.

‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ also stars Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, and Russell Crowe alongside Christian Bale. The movie releases in theatres on July 8, 2022.
