'This is Us' Season 4 Episode 10: Fans worried Cassidy maybe Kevin's fiancé, but are rooting for Sophie's comeback
'This is Us' Season 4 is on a mid-season break and fans are getting impatient with the number of questions they need answers to. Before going on the fall finale, the NBC show had introduced us to a bunch of new characters who became an integral part of stories they were already telling us, primarily featuring the Pearsons. It is not surprising that the fans feel like they are left with a hundred new questions when the show went on the break while the questions that have been with them since the beginning of the season remain wholly or partially unanswered.
One of the biggest storylines of the series is that of Kevin (Justin Hartley) finding the love of his life, settling down and fathering some children. The show explicitly addressed Kevin's desire to become a father when he was still dating Zoe (Melanie Liburd) and she revealed she had no interest in being a mother. Since then, we have seen Kevin go through many highs and lows, including staying with his alcoholic uncle who is trying to get sober, and helping a new friend find a way back to her family.
Kevin, Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison) and Uncle Nicky (Griffin Dunne) did make an awesome threesome, and with Nicky having found the reason to stay sober, he is confident enough to tell Kevin that he will reach out when he needs help. Cassidy meanwhile, has found a way in with her husband, and it may certainly be a long road to win back his trust, but she is going in the right direction.
However, fans are worried that the writers may bring her back as a future love interest for Kevin, even though both characters concurred that them sleeping together was a bad idea. Meanwhile, there is a large group hoping that Kevin would return to his first love Sophie (Alexandra Hetherington Breckenridge) and that they would start a family together. Sophie has endured the pain Kevin put her through many times over, and many believe that is time for Kevin to do right by her.
As one fan explains, "Kevin’s baby mama is definitely Sophie. It has already been confirmed that it’s somebody who’s already been introduced, and they have spent so much time building Kevin and Sophie’s story. There are still so many hints that haven’t been touched on, which I believe will be main stories in future episodes. Like the story behind their restaurant, the Facebook stalking, her mom’s MS, and the most obvious one, their engagement and marriage. There’s probably going to be a whole episode about their engagement and I bet that it’s going to be so romantic. During the dinner episode when Kevin was explaining how they got married, they definitely downplayed it and I’m sure when we see the episode it will be super “this is us”, and full of all the feels. Kevin has finally come full circle and has healed from all him emotional baggage and I believe he will definitely be a Jack 2.0. This show is so awesome and don’t think they would mess Kevin’s storyline up like that. It wouldn’t make sense for it to be anyone else but Sophie. [sic]"
Will this just end up being wishful thinking or will 'This is Us' writers come through with an amazing storyline for Kevin and Sophie? We will find out when the show returns with Season 4 Episode 10 on Tuesday, January 14 on NBC.
