LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix’s epic fantasy series ‘The Witcher’ is one of the best shows out there and it took things to a whole new level with an extraordinary Season 2. One of the main reasons for the show’s success has been Henry Cavill’s riveting portrayal of Geralt of Rivia. However, the fans received the shock of a lifetime when Cavill recently announced that he won’t be returning as the lead character in Season 4 of the Netflix show. Since then, the makers have faced a lot of criticism for letting go of the ‘Man of Steel’ star so easily.

In late October, Cavill uploaded the logo of ‘The Witcher’ series and announced that his journey as Geralt of Rivia will be coming to an end after the third season. Apart from his exit, he also announced that Liam Hemsworth will be taking over the role from the show’s fourth edition. Both actors have been supportive of each other during the transition, but fans have been really angry about the actor’s exit and it seems, the show’s creator has had enough of all the things that have been said about the matter.

Speaking in an interview with TechRadar, Lauren Hissrich, the showrunner of the aforementioned Netflix series, has requested the fans to return for the third season so that they can continue to make more such content. The showrunner also noted that it is time for stars from the other ‘Witcher’ shows to be in the “spotlight”.

“It's a big deal for us, too. And that's the thing – there's a lot of talk and rumors about and we fully understand why fans are going there. What I will say is please come back for The Witcher season three so that we can continue to do this. Obviously, that [Cavill's departure] is huge news. But what I don't want to do is – this has to stay about Blood Origin, Declan [de Barra, Blood Origin's showrunner], the cast, and the crew. This is their time in the spotlight,” Hissrich said during the interview.

One of the main reasons for Cavill’s exit has been his return to the DC Universe. Earlier this year, the ‘Enola Holmes’ actor was seen donning the iconic Superman costume in ‘Black Adam’ and it was reported that the actor might be reprising the role of Man of Steel in upcoming projects. A few days after the release, Cavill announced on Instagram that he will be returning as Superman in the DC Universe and is in talks to return in ‘Man of Steel 2’ as well.

The release date for ‘The Witcher’ Season 3 hasn’t been announced as of now, but there’s a lot of anticipation for the next edition after Cavill’s exit. Meanwhile, the showrunner has made it clear that the star’s exit is undoubtedly big news and they didn’t want him to go as well, but things didn’t go as planned. But he’s right in saying that stars from the upcoming ‘Witcher’ show should be in the spotlight and when you have someone like Michelle Yeoh leading a series like ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’, there should be no doubts that it is undoubtedly a thrilling watch.
