LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It has been a rollercoaster for Henry Cavill and his cavalry of fans. The actor has now confirmed that he will not be returning as Superman in the DC Extended Universe and his fans are angry with the studio's decision. In an Instagram post, Cavill revealed that despite the studio telling him to announce his return as the 'Man of Steel', he will not go forward with the idea that is being helmed by James Gunn. The fans are upset as Cavill earlier exited 'The Witcher' and now Superman.

Director James Gunn, who is famously known for Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' franchise, has been roped in for a new Superman movie for DCEU. Explaining his disagreement with the director, the 39-year-old actor wrote on Wednesday, Thursday 14, "I will, after all, not be returning as Superman,” Cavill wrote, adding, “After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build." Back in October, Cavill announced his exit from Netflix's 'The Witcher' and the fans thought it had something to do with his return as DC's Superman aka Clark Kent. Now, they are pissed as he will not be playing either Geralt of Rivia or Superman.

Henry Cavill fans angry after he announced he won't be playing Superman

One angry fan, who won't get to see Henry Cavill as Superman or Geralt, tweeted, "We lost Geralt for nothing bro I’m pissed." Another user wrote, "That’s so weird that just a month ago Henry Cavill quit a hit franchise to link back up with DC/HBO to become Superman (again) & they’re like “naw, never mind.” That’s kinda f*cked honestly. #HenryCavillSuperman."

One more user said, "I absolutely hate James Gunn right now. Just heartbroken at Henry Cavill statement. He leaves the incredible Witcher role to be promised a Superman future to then be told this #Superman #HenryCavill #HenryCavillSuperman."

One user tweeted, "Henry Cavill loved The Witcher but he clearly wanted the studio to respect the book material and it must have disappointed him to see them mock it. He ended up eventually leaving it behind for Superman only for DC to drop him again within 2 months. This man deserved better."

Another user tweeted, "First henry cavill’s geralt gets recast (by liam hemsworth ) in the witcher and now he’s not returning as superman. why is life so cruel man."

One more user tweeted, "I feel legitimately terrible for Henry Cavill. The dude leaves The Witcher after they butcher the source material, DC tells him he's finally back as Superman after YEARS of wanting to come back. Then gets this news a few months later. Just awful."
