'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live': A look at new characters entering the AMC spin-off

Several new characters join Rick Grimes and Michonne Hawthorne on their journey to find each other in 'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, who departed from the original 'The Walking Dead' series in Season 9 and 10 respectively, have returned as Rick Grimes and Michonne Hawthorne in a spin-off series.

'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live' premiered on AMC on Sunday, February 25, 2024. It follows the story of Rick and Michonne, five years after the bridge explosion that separated them.

While several familiar faces of the franchise will feature in the spin-off, we are also introduced to some fresh faces. Let's check them out!

Craig Tate portrays Donald Okafor

Episode 1 of 'The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live' introduces Lieutenant Colonel Donald Okafor who persuades Rick Grimes to join the Civic Republic Military (CRM) as a soldier.

He is set on a secret mission to bring a change to the army and asks Rick and Pearl to join him.

The role of Okafor is played by Craig Tate. However, his appearance in the series is quite brief as his character gets killed by the end of the first episode.

Lesley-Ann Brandt plays Pearl Thorne

Pearl Thorne is a new and seemingly pivotal character in the latest series. She is assumed to be an antagonist who encounters Rick during his time with the CRM.

This character is played by Lesley-Ann Brandt, a South African actress widely known for her engrossing portrayal of Mazikeen on the television series 'Lucifer'.

Frankie Quinones portrays Esteban Garcia

Episode 1 introduces another new character, named Esteban Garcia, who is portrayed by Frankie Quinones. He is shown as Rick's friend, who has completed six years of his job as a consignee and is happy to get citizenship as he takes the new role of Deputy Manager of Water and Power of Ward 3.

He looks out for Rick and even helps him in his fifth escape plan via a tunnel.

Terry O'Quinn plays Major General Beale

The character of Major General Beale is another addition to 'The Walking Dead' franchise. The role is taken up by Primetime Emmy Award-winner Terry O’Quinn.

The 71-year-old actor is best known for portraying John Locke on the television series 'Lost'.

Matthew Jeffers portrays Nat

Matthew Jeffers, who appeared on the TV show 'New Amsterdam' (2018 -2023) will be seen as Nat, who joins Michonne on her journey to find Rick.

His character will be introduced in Episode 2 of 'The Ones Who Live'.
