'The Voice' on NBC draws 'American Idol' comparisons as 'overhyped' Maddi Jane advances to Live Shows
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Chance the Rapper concluded the round with Maddi Jane's rendition of Rihanna's 'Stay.' As the Season 25 Playoffs of 'The Voice' conclude, people begin to compare the NBC show's skills to those of 'American Idol', calling Maddi's hype into doubt.
Chance revealed to Maddi that he was telling Meghan Trainor about her confidence. Meghan agrees that Maddi feels "no fear" in her body. Meghan described Maddi as a "powerhouse" and believes she "made it look easy."

However, disagreeing with all the praises, fans on Reddit wrote, "Why the Maddie hypeβ¦.help me understand π©." Another person chimed in, "Maddi was (is) my least favorite on Team Chance π I do nottttt even remotely understand the hype. She's good, but sounds like any other girl I performed with in high school varsity choir."
Some agreed, "100% I agree. Her voice is nice but not special. The thing that makes her stand out is her arrogance. She will probs win the show π€£ people love her." They further added, "Right! I'm trying so hard to understand the appeal. Her voice is forgettable to me personally. I know she's got that rizz lol, but is it because she raps? I just feel like confidence is a weird reason to advance her over others, and rapping isn't singing, so it shouldn't be a factor in a singing competition."
On X, fans wrote, "Worst season ever. Nobody is outstanding." Some complained, "Yeah & A lot good singers went home Because The coaches being too freaking picky again??? I think I'm going to take A break, I won't continue watching This Season of #TheVoice Sorry!!!"

One user also complained, "It's so sad The Voice has fallen so far. American Idol absolutely blows it away now with talent. NBC is more interested with being woke."

Chance the Rapper proud of 'The Voice' star Maddi Jane's 'cool confidence'
Reba McEntire termed Maddi "priceless" because of her mastery over her voice; Shay Mooney called her a "straight diamond" rather than a "hidden gem," and John Legend described it as a "masterclass" in intention. Chance complimented her on how she exudes "cool confidence."
Chance said, "Maddi, I am just so proud of you. Itβs cool to see you be yourself every week. I just like how you carry yourself in every performance with the cool confidence you have. Iβm proud you came out here and showed why you deserve to be on this show and in the Lives. When you sing, everybody gets excited."
