'The Voice' fans claim Maddi Jane's semi-final act got ruined by 'distracting' production and choreography
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: Maddi Jane sang 'Greedy' by Tate McRae on 'The Voice' Season 25, describing him as "exactly who she wants to be in the future." Even though there was little criticism of her singing, people did attack NBC for an excessively polished stage and distracting choreography to accompany it.
Maddi started out strong when sending Tate's hit to the Windy City, but as soon as she started moving around, her vocals became quite weak. Her performance was entertaining to see — the youngster understands how to work a stage — but she consistently underperformed until she was slowing down for a good, long note.

The singer was delighted to dance on stage, but Chance the Rapper advised her not to "waste" any time and to showcase her voice throughout the performance.
On Reddit, fans expressed, "Maddi is talented but that was absolutely awful." Another person chimed in, "Song choice is so important and this wasn't a good one. And the choreography was distracting."
One user also noted, "Chance has done everything he can to tell Maddi to stop rapping besides straight up telling her." A fourth Redditor wrote, "the parts maddi is singing are so pretty but then the more spoken part and jumping back and forth is... a choice!"
One viewer further commented, "Not a fan of Maddi’s performance." Another person sighed, "Wish she focused more on the singing. Production was distracting too."
Chance the Rapper called Maddi Jane's semi-final performance in 'The Voice' 'Grammy-level'
Following the performance, Chance described it as "insane" and "incredible." He emphasized what they had prepared — that she would regulate her breath while adding dancing — and described it as a "Grammy-level performance."
