'The Voice' 2023: Manasseh Samone sounds like 'vocal goddess' in first Battle Round against Sorelle
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: As Season 23 of 'The Voice' waved goodbye to its blind auditions, familiar faces like Blake Shelton, Niall Horan, Chance the Rapper, and Kelly Clarkson rejoiced in the show's first-ever Battle Round. The blind auditions were a melting pot of raw talent, with some performers failing to earn a single coach's nod while others like Manasseh Samone were only able to secure a solitary chair turn. However, all of that is now water under the bridge as the competition heats up.
The highly anticipated Battles start on Monday evening, but the NBC singing competition provided a sneak peek for eager fans. In an intriguing move, Chance the Rapper chose Manasseh Samone and the Sorelle sisters to go head-to-head in a rendition of Adele's classic hit 'Someone Like You.' Nonetheless, the untested coach proved that he was more than capable of delivering surprises and wowed the audience with his unconventional tactics.

Judges in awe of Chance's arrangement
The Battle Round on 'The Voice' Season 23 has brought out some of the fiercest competition yet, and the latest reveal was no exception. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as Manasseh Samone and the Sorelle sisters took to the stage to perform Adele's iconic hit, 'Someone Like You.' From the very start of their collaboration, it was clear that this was going to be an unforgettable performance. Manasseh wowed the audience with his impressive runs, while Sorelle's harmonies were so tight and pitch-perfect that the coaches were left stunned. Kelly was the first to heap praise on the group's vocal arrangement. "No one's heard that song like that," she marvelled, clearly impressed by Chance's unconventional tactics and arrangement. She gave Manasseh the edge, telling him, "You're the reason this show exists." However, Niall Horan and Blake Shelton had different perspectives. Both coaches were enamored by the sisters' harmonies, which sounded as perfect as a recording. "It's almost hard to believe that was live," Blake praised, with Niall agreeing, "You would struggle to get a record to even mix that well." The decision fell on Chance the Rapper, who had a tough call to make. "That was a masterful performance on both parts," he shared, acknowledging Manasseh as a "one of one," and praising Sorelle's poise and harmonics. This was his first elimination of the season, and he clearly had a lot on his mind. Despite the tension in the air, the performance itself was a testament to the power of collaboration and the strength of the human voice. The audience was left breathless, and the judges were clearly moved by the incredible talent on display.

'My mouth is on the floor'
Fans were completely blown away by the performance and they did not hold back their praises for the team and especially, one chair turn, Manasseh. One said, "Let's not forget that Manasseh was a one-chair-turn, and a no-chair-turner from last season! What a comeback!!!!!", while another said, "Team Chance is NOT here to play! The four of them sound amazing! Another great Sorelle performance. And I think this performance will be big for Mannaseh."
People also applauded the sister trio, Sorelle, for their incredible harmony and pitch-perfect notes. One said, "Trios on the voice have usually been slow, indie, or something related into those type of songs so they're usually in the lower registers. Sorelle entering the competition is indeed a fresh addition." Another said, "sorelle is so different, they’re the most unique trio we ever had ! Manasseh is a vocal goddess !! hard pick chance but i’ll chose sorelle".
But fans mostly gushed about the power of Manasseh's voice and said, "Manasseh brought me to tears with her beautiful voice...first time this season!!". One comment really stood out. The user said, " Wow that was amazing! Sorelle really improved a bit but they still sounded off a bit to me and I was still wanting more. They were still slightly messy but not as much as their audition. And Manasseh? She slayed as always! She killed that! Manasseh could honestly win the whole damn competition if she keeps performing at this level. She's got the vocals, the emotions, the backstory, the killer tone, personality, she has it all. She won that battle hands down and easily. She was so dominant, elegant, and powerful. She ate that and had my full attention. It was like she was caressing me in my ears. The song choice seemed to catered in Manasseh's lane more."

Manasseh Samone vs Sorelle - Who won?
The Battle Round of Season 23 of 'The Voice' has heated up with the latest face-off between Manasseh and Sorelle. These two talented acts had already impressed Chance the Rapper during their respective auditions, with Manasseh's rendition of Andra Day's 'Rise Up' earning her only one chair turn and an automatic spot on Chance's team, and Sorelle with two chair turns, with their cover of Queen's 'Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy.' Now, the stakes are higher as the two acts are pitted against each other in a Battle Round, performing Adele's classic anthem 'Someone Like You.'
The competition is fierce, with Sorelle delivering some incredible harmonies and Manasseh holding her own with a powerhouse solo performance. It was a tough decision for their coach, and fans were on the edge of their seats, wondering who Chance would pick. In a twist that no one saw coming, Chance made a surprising decision. He picked Sorelle as the winner of the Battle, but instead of sending Manasseh home, he gave her a Playoff-Pass. This new twist for Season 23 allows coaches to give an artist a pass during the Battle Round, allowing them to skip straight to the Playoffs without having to compete in the Knockouts. This move by Chance left fans and the other coaches stunned, as they had never seen anything like it before. It was a risky move, but one that could pay off in the long run. By giving Manasseh the pass, Chance was able to keep all four girls on his team and increase their chances of making it to the final round. The Battle Round excitement is just beginning. With this new twist, the game has changed, and it's anyone's guess who will make it to the end.
