Are Nate and Lauren still together? Inside 'The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On' stars' shocking proposal
Even though the cheesy rom-com movies may try to convince you that the secret to a happy and successful marriage is just love, in reality, it's a far cry from the truth. There are many factors to be taken into consideration for a marriage to work—their stance on children, finances, religious beliefs, political ideologies, etc. So when Nathan Ruggles aka Nate decided to propose to his girlfriend Lauren Pounds after dating her for over two and a half years, their conflicting take on children put a screeching halt to their plans.
While 30-year-old Nate was determined to have a traditional lifestyle that included a wife and children, with an emphasis on children, Lauren didn't share the same views. She was completely against the idea of having children. So Nate issued an ultimatum to Lauren asking her to either marry and have children with him or to move on. This brought the couple to Netflix's reality dating show/ social experiment 'The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On'. Hosted by 'Love is Blind' hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the new Netflix show revolves around six couples who are in a similar predicament as Nate and Lauren. In a span of eight weeks, the couples must decide whether they want to commit to marriage or move on. To make things a tad more interesting, the couples are also given an opportunity to choose a new potential partner from one of the other couples, to get a glimpse of two different possible futures. But before Lauren could fully embrace the experience, Nate cut it short by proposing to Lauren and asking her to marry him. He declared that he didn't care about children and just wanted her in his life! So, did Lauren and Nate really get their "happily-ever-after" or did they decide to part ways after the show's filming ended? Read on to find out.

Are Lauren and Nate still together?
When Nate walked into the social experiment he made it very clear that if Lauren wouldn't change her mind about having kids, he would find some other woman who would be willing to have kids with him and marry him. With that in mind, he began trying to form connections with the other women on the show. He found himself especially drawn to April Marie and Madlyn Riley Ballatori. He was convinced that one of the two women would pick him as a partner for their trial marriage. On the other hand, Lauren formed a very strong bond with Colby Kiss.
During her interactions with Colby, Lauren found herself opening up to the possibility of having kids and also realized what was stopping her from having kids with Nate. She confided in Colby that Nate's constant travel due to work would mean that should they decide to have kids then she would be left to her own devices to raise the kids, and she wasn't up for it. Colby assured her that he would be her equal partner should she change her mind and be open to having kids with him.
So, on the day of picking their new partners, both April and Madlyn shocked Nate by picking somebody else over him. As Nate sat feeling puzzled about the women's decision to not choose him, it was Colby's turn to decide who he wanted to partner up with. Just as Colby uttered Lauren's name, Nate immediately intervened and stopped Lauren from answering whether she wanted to partner up with Colby or not. Nate then shocked everybody by asking Lauren to marry him. He sensed her hesitation and clarified that he came to the realization that he didn't need kids with her, he just needed her in his life. Although Nate managed to get a yes from Lauren, his co-stars were irked.
April and Colby were pretty vocal about their opposing views on Nate's actions. Almost everybody questioned Nate's sudden change of heart. Madlyn even revealed that just moments before his big proposal to Lauren he whispered to her that he would be picking her as his trial marriage partner. Despite hearing everybody's concerns, Lauren and Nate just ignored everybody and decided to go ahead with their plan of getting married. Later we see Lauren making it clear to Nate that he shouldn't go into marriage with her with the hopes of her changing her mind about having children. She even suggested therapy for them to work on their issues, but Nate just dismissed them all.
So did Lauren and Nate's relationship survive the aftermath of 'The Ultimatum'? Well, based on the couple's social media profiles it looks like they might have decided to part ways. Although both Lauren and Nate continue to follow each other on social media, neither of them have posted anything about each other in the recent past. While Nate continues to like Lauren's pictures, she hasn't reciprocated it. Also, it's highly unlikely that Nate overnight changed his decision to have children just to be with Lauren. So, we believe that the couple may have kissed goodbye to their relationship. Although we will have to wait for either Lauren or Nate to confirm their current relationship status or the show's reunion for an update on their current status.
''The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On' is all set to premiere on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Netflix will be dropping the episodes in two parts—the first eight episodes will be available for streaming on April 6th, while the finale and the reunion episodes drop on April 13, 2022.
