'The Summer I Turned Pretty' is a drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship. It is a coming-of-age story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer.
The eight-episode series is slated to debut on Amazon Prime on June 17. Based on Jenny Han's book of the same name, the series also has the writer as its executive producer. Lola Tung as Belly
Lola Tung will play Isabel “Belly” Conklin, an ordinary teenage girl who spends the summer in Cousin’s Beach with her mother Laurel and older brother Steven. Born on October 28, 2002, Lola graduated from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. Some of the school's famous alumni include Timothée Chalamet, Ansel Elgort, and Jennifer Aniston. Currently, Lola is studying at Carnegie Mellon University in The School of Drama Acting and Music Theater.
'The Summer I Turned Pretty' is Lola's first-ever acting gig. She is signed by the agency CAA for representation in all areas. Apart from acting, she loves singing and listening to music. She’s a big fan of Lizzy McAlpine and Japanese Breakfast.
Chris Briney as Conrad
Born and raised in Connecticut, Briney now lives in New York City. He was an athlete who spent most of his younger years biking and playing baseball. However, he discovered his real passion when he took an acting class while attending the Waterbury Arts Magnet School. He eventually graduated with a degree in acting for film, TV, voiceover, and commercial from Pace University in 2020.
Like his co-star Lola, 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' is Briney’s first streaming series, although he has prior experience in film and theatre. Overall, he has appeared in seven theatre productions, including three by Shakespearience Productions. He has also appeared in films such as 'Daliland', 'Steph', and 'Racing The Clock'.
Other cast members include Gavin Casalegno, Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Tom Everett, David Iacono, Sean Kaufman, Minnie Mills, and Alfredo Narciso.
