LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cinema has become a force of change and that is a fact. The first footage of 'Nun 2' was released for the audience during the CinemaCon 2023 panel, revealing 'The Conjuring' universe sequel and returning actors. But, there are many improvements and additions in the new movie which was revealed by the writer who has worked on the story. Akela Cooper, writer for the upcoming 'The Nun 2', revealed that the film will increase Black representation in The Conjuring franchise.

'The Conjuring' franchise started out in 2013 with 'The Conjuring' followed by several other movies from the family tree. After almost five years, 'The Nun' will now release the sequel to the original film, which is all set to release in September. The first movie 'The Nun' from 2018 served as a prequel to the events of 'The Conjuring 2' and followed the wake of an important demonic entity, Valak.

'I’m going to put a Black nun in this, you guys'

Akela Cooper, the writer of 'The Nun 2' wanted to bring forth a revolution in the cinema industry and was hell-bent on casting a person of color in the cast. Storm Reid was eyed for the role and was taken on board recently. In a recent interview, she shared the entire process that went into initiating an idea of increasing black cultural representation to the Conjuring franchise and adding people of color to a cast that is predominantly full of white characters. She further said, "Especially, I was like really, really excited when they cast Storm Reid in the film, because that character means a lot to me. That was another part in that meeting where I was like, 'I'm going to put a Black nun in this, you guys,' and they were like, 'Okay cool.' Bringing more Black people into The Conjuring Universe was another proud moment."

Will Storm Reid's character play a titular role in the movie?

Reid's character role hasn't been revealed yet, but she is surely going to be an important character, maybe someone who would help Sister Irene defeat Valek. But, Reid was present at the CinemaCon panel and discussed about her experience, while also sharing how unnerving it was to film in a real abandoned church in France and also shared that she isn't such a big horror movie fan.
