'The Masked Singer' Season 3: It's Sarah Palin under Bear mask and fans can't believe their eyes
An all-new set of contestants took to stage tonight on 'The Masked Singer'. Group C contestants Night Angel, Bear, T-Rex, Swan, Astronaut and Rhino made it to the stage in a bid to secure their spot on the Top 9. Each episode sees the lowest voted contestant being eliminated from the show and their identity is revealed.
Tonight's episodes lowest voted contestant was the Bear and when the mask was lifted off, it left everyone shocked. People could hardly believe what they were seeing. Bear turned out to be former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.
In the preview of the episode, host Nick Cannon said, "This might be the most shocked I've ever been on this show." The promos also promised the reveal to be so shocking that one is got to see it to believe it.
For her performance, Sarah chose to rap 'Baby Got Back' by Sir Mix A Lot. After her performance, she told Nick Cannon that it is really nice to not be able to see much of anything out of the Bear's mask. "It takes the sharp edges off the world. Everything looks a little softer, nicer. I needed this," she said.
In the pre-taped clue package that played before her performance, Bear had said, "But after years of hearing all the phony baloney, so this mama bear is coming out of hibernation. Maybe I’ve been a bit polarizing, but just like a bear it’s been to protect my cubs. Under this mask, I found the courage to come out of my cage, stop hiding and face the world head on. Now tonight, I bear exercise my right to a killer performance."
On being asked why she chose the Bear's avatar she said, "The bear is part of my nickname growing up and the whole ‘Mama Bear’ thing, and they are in Alaska. They are in their front yards. Bear was easy. I was so appreciative of ‘The Masked Singer,’ they let me exploit men. I changed the lyrics and it was all about men."
Ken Jeong had guessed Jodie Sweetin. Jenny McCarthy thought it could be Candance Cameron Bure under the mask as the clue package had a hockey stick and Candance is married to a hockey player. Robin Thicke went with Tina Fey as his guess and Nicole Scherzinger had guessed Bear to be Christina Applegate.
Post the reveal, everyone from the judges to the studio audience as well as fans watching the show at home were mighty surprised.
A fan of the show tweeted, "Okay there is literally no one in the planet that could have guessed the identity of the bear. I’m sorry even if every clue was super clear. I thought it was Jodie Sweetin lol #MaskedSinger #maskedsingerfox @MaskedSingerFOX".
Another fan wrote, "Meanwhile i just watched sarah palin rap in a bear costume what the hell is the masked singer."
"I watch The Masked Singer to see a huge pink fuzzy bear singing baby got back gets unmasked as Sarah Palin. My God," read another tweet.
Palin is the first contestant going home from Group C. Earlier on this season we saw Lil Wayne, Drew Carey, Chaka Khan, Tony Hawk, Dionne Warwick and Tom Bergeron being unmasked.
