'The Good Place' Season 4 Episode 1: Holy mother forking shirt balls! The experiment has begun and the clock is ticking, so enjoy while you can
'The Good Place' is returning for one last season on Thursday, September 26, and it's a bittersweet occasion, to say the least. The NBC show gave us a lot of laughs and things to think about over the last three seasons, and it is ending on a high note. There certainly is joy in that, but saying goodbye is never easy.
Season four of the series will be solely focused on the experiment that will determine whether human beings are eternally doomed to a life in the Bad Place, where they would be tortured relentlessly by Shawn (Marc Evan Jackson) and other demons, of they will have a shot at going to the Good Place.
As we saw in the previous season, Chidi (William Jackson Harper) had sacrificed his memory for the sake of humanity, leaving Eleanor (Kristen Bell) boyfriend-less and in charge of the whole thing, thanks to Michael (Ted Danson) freaking out about not being the right person to be entrusted with it.
In the final season, we also get to see full circle moments for all these characters who have gone from not-so-great to great humans. Tahani (Jameela Jamil), whose self-centeredness and jealously hindered any chance at being truly happy, will be seen helping the very man who wrote smut about her back on Earth.
Meanwhile, Jason (Manny Jacinto) will be seen trying to be a supportive boyfriend to Janet (D'Arcy Carden) even as she tries to manage the fake Good Place without having any of the subjects raise any eyebrows.
Meanwhile, Eleanor has the most difficult task of it all — watch her boyfriend that she still loves, potentially fall in love with his ex-girlfriend, because he does not remember their past together.
One way or the other, the experiment has to end in a year's time, and we would be left with a hole in the shape of 'The Good Place' so enjoy it while you can, you ding dongs! Season four of 'The Good Place' drops on Thursday, September 26 on NBC.
