'The Good Doctor' Season 3 Episode 7 hints at a personal change in Shaun Murphy's character after his successful surgery
Dr. Shaun Murphy's jinx has finally been broken in Season 3 Episode 6. He managed to successfully perform appendectomy (appendix removal) on a patient, despite his rough behavior with a nurse.
While he, his colleagues and his boss had been focused on how he handled his apology to the nurse, we cannot but revel in his success. And usually, with dedicated and determined people like Shaun, success always leads to more success.
As the episode wraps up and leaves us breadcrumbs of episode seven, we expect a whole new angle in Shaun's life, characteristics and professional growth.
The teaser shows that Shaun is approached by a patient who seeks his help from a personal standpoint. Now, whether from the angle of the story or from that of the character development, if one has to see, this can be a turning point for Shaun.
So far the young, autistic surgeon has displayed classic characteristics of a Savant whose greatest weakness is the lack of social communication. He is also very direct and blunt, which makes him come across as less empathetic towards his patients or even friends.
And yet, for every doctor, it is almost an unsaid responsibility of being sensitive to their patients, especially while discussing life-changing conditions. But Shaun is far and beyond all this.
Sometimes, his patients overlook his skill and remarkable talent and only see him for his curt behavior, preventing them from trusting him. Now, with episode seven, all this might simply change and we will probably see an overhaul of Shaun's persona as it has been showcased so far.
Not that he will change, but his newly assigned patient might reach out to him at a level, which no one else has been able to so far. The teaser hints at Dr. Shaun Murphy's unique ability to relate to a patient isolated by an immune deficiency, which will yield an unexpected result.
As the teaser also indicates, we will also perhaps see Shaun "making a connection" with his patient, which has never happened before. And we are almost certain that such a turn of events will leave us ample room for debates and discussions.
Don't miss episode seven of 'The Good Doctor' season three every Monday at 10.30 pm on ABC.
