'The Curse Of Oak Island' Season 8 Episode 9: Has Gary Drayton 'lost it'? Search for patina in pottery irks fans
Gary Drayton is a bit of an excited soul on 'The Curse Of Oak Island'. Usually, he is the one who finds intriguing artifacts that date back centuries, be it an old Chinese coin, ox shoes, or random bits of pottery. In the latest episode of the History Channel show, Gary is beaming with joy with his beeping metal detector as he discovers a 'motherload of treasure', which turns out to be just a lot of mud and coal. He manages to find hints of 'blue-glazed' pottery, and he is desperate to find a patina in it. Fans are perplexed and wonder whether he has finally lost it, as he asserts that it is part of a 'decorative brooch'.
"Does pottery get a patina? Gary has gone crazy #curseofoakisland," a fan wrote. "Has Gary finally lost it this episode...? #OakIslandCursers #CurseOfOakIsland," another tweeted. "Why is Gary even on the show?" one asked.

Could it actually be a decorative brooch, or is it just another theory that has no water?
Meanwhile, the team is trying to solve the puzzle that is the road connecting the sea and the swamp. Could the roadway have been used by seafarers to unload treasure? Or was it intended for something else? Alex Lagina did try diving into the murky depths but due to poor visibility, he could not find anything. Meanwhile, they even tried working on Erin Helton's understanding of Zena Halpern's ancient map. Erin had a curious understanding of her map, which pointed to the existence of several 'boulders', as well as the fact that they've been digging in the wrong Money Pit area for a while now. She provided them the coordinates and said that using these, they should be able to find a tunnel. However, they were not able to do so and regretfully asked her to make a re-assessment of the situation again.
This season has got a lot of mysteries, starting with the mysterious serpent mound that could just be from the era of the Knight Templars. The show has been filled with Templar references this time, much to the joy of fans.
'The Curse Of Oak Island' airs on History Channel on Tuesdays at 9 pm.
