'The Conners' Season 3 Episode 1: Who's George Clooney lookalike? 'Iconic' Booker flashback leaves fans in splits

In the wake of the ongoing pandemic, job opportunities open up for Darlene and Becky where their mother and aunt Jackie used to work and guess who comes up next?

While not many might remember, but George Clooney was an active member of the early years of the sitcom 'Roseanna'. The show was rebooted and then infamously canceled after leading lady Roseanne Barr's racist tweets and thus came 'The Conners' — a spinoff known for keeping it real. With Season 3 just dropping, it only made sense for showrunner Bruce Helford to address the ongoing pandemic as realistically as possible, but he also decided to bring back certain old favorites in the form of good old nostalgia from the original show. Among guest appearances by Danny Trejo as Tito and Katey Segal's Louise moving into the Conners' home for quarantine, what really outshone everything else was a mention of a certain Booker played by the charismatic Clooney. 

To brush up your memory, Booker was Roseanne and Jackie's boss at Wellman Plastics. He comes up after family patriarch Dan tells them that the company is hiring 200 people in the wake of Covid-19, thus easing financial prospects for both Darlene and Becky. But trust their aunt Jackie to be consumed by fond reminiscence of her once-boss, beau and supervisor, Booker. The scene cuts to a flashback from the original, where Booker and Jackie are heavily flirting on their bowling date, and back in the present day, she reflects how she "should've hit it till I broke it". 

We get it, Jackie, you dated someone that looked like Clooney, which she also mentions in as many words. Taking note of all the references going on, a fan wrote on Twitter: "#TheConners booker reference tonight was iconic. Wellmans coming back is also quite iconic."

Others fan stated "I’m happy my fave TV family is back to kick off the new season. My fave part of the episode is George Clooney flashback clip and the Wellman factory. Tonight’s season premiere rocks!"

Another laughed at the way Jackie reflected on the relationship: "'I should’ve hit that til’ I broke it.' - Jackie talking about Booker (the George Clooney look alike). I’m still here," the fan shared. 

This is a sentiment that ran wild with the fandom. They want old cameos back, made clear by this tweet where a fan shared a gif of Jonah Hill screaming, accompanied by the text: "OMG OMG @TheConnersABC has Roseanne flashbacks with my fav Jackie & Booker romance (George Clooney), AND Machete as a guest appearance!!!! #TheConners."

'The Conners' will air every Wednesday at 9 pm only on ABC.
