'The Blacklist' Season 7 Episode 11: Fans tired of Liz's poor characterization, wants Red to leave her with her terrible choices
Season 7 of 'The Blacklist' has been extremely frustrating to watch, all thanks to Liz (Megan Boone) and her inability to actually stick to a decision. Many times over, we have seen her decide to believe in Red (James Spader) and realize that it doesn't matter what his true identity is because he has always been by her side. In fact, earlier this season she said to the Task Force that it does not matter whether Red is actually her father or not, because he is the father figure he has, and she will protect him at all costs.
And yet, in the previously aired Season 7 Episode 10 of the NBC series, we saw how she flipped sides as soon as her estranged mother Katarina (Laila Robins) told her she could find answers for her. We saw how she betrayed the Task Force and Red by allowing Katarina to escape from right under their noses. Red believes that he has protected Liz from Katarina even as two of his dear friends fight for their lives because of her. However, he is still ignorant about Liz's betrayal and there is no telling how he might react to it.
After all, we did see her cry her heart out to Red earlier, saying it was her incessant search for the answers about her life that got Red nearly killed, and yet we saw her engaging with Katarina, a stranger despite being her biological mother, and empowering her with what she needs to continue on with her project. Fans believe that Red should stop being an ally to the FBI and leave Liz be, instead of trying to be her guardian angel, especially since it is clear that she is choosing to honor her Rostova side and even promised as much to Katarina in the previous episode.
In the upcoming Season 7 Episode 11, we see her telling Harrold (Harry Lennix) that she can no longer be on Red's side, which is pretty hilarious when you think about how many times she has chosen to be on his side and against him. As a fan puts it, "Liz has gotta have the worst characterization I have seen on tv, it feels like she's a walking plot device for the constant mysteries, her perception of Reddington constantly shifts from season to season depending on what mystery the show presents next again and again."
Season 7 Episode 11 of 'The Blacklist', which will be aired by NBC in March 2020, will reveal how her new stance works out for Liz.
