'The Blacklist' Season 7 Episode 1: Three things to look forward to - from Katarina's intentions to Red's relationship with her

We understand that Red is as shocked as the audience by Katarina's actions, and it will be an interesting journey to see him piece the puzzle together.

After a long break, NBC's 'The Blacklist' is returning with Season 7 on October 4, and we have many questions, starting with when Liz (Megan Boone) will find out the truth about Red (James Spades) being her father. Hopefully, this will be the season to answer them all, but we specifically need three issues to be addressed when the show returns:

Katarina's true intentions

We have always assumed that Katarina (Lotte Verbeek) is not one to be afraid of. Red said as much to Liz, and it seems like Red grossly underplayed or underestimated what she is capable of. From the trailer for the upcoming season, we know that she is after some kind of information and she trusts in her brutal technique to force Red to give her what she wants. There is a tinge of revenge in there for sure, because we also hear her say in the trailer that she is tired of being pushed into the shadows. Hopefully, we will get a bit more backstory about her and what she wants.

How could Red let his guard down?

We know Reddington to be one of the most cautious individuals in the world, he had five backup plans for his backup plan, and yet, he was unceremoniously drugged and kidnapped by Katarina in Season 6 finale. As mentioned previously, he may have underestimated her, but it seems more to do with the fact that he has some kind of relationship with her that makes him trust her. In fact, she may be a fascinating muse turned deadly foe in his life, and we cannot wait to see that turnaround happen. We understand that Red is as shocked as the audience by Katarina's actions, and it will be an interesting journey to see him piece the puzzle together.

Team Red-Task Force crossover event

'The Blacklist' started with Red offering his assistance in catching some of the world's deadliest criminals, and in that capacity, his people have worked with the FBI, but this time around it is going to be different. Red is missing, and the Task Force wants him back because he is an asset, and Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) wants him back because he is loyal.

In Season 7, for the first time, we will see them working as equals, or at least we hope they do, because especially without Red as the connecting link it would be a fun interaction to watch.

Don't forget to tune in to Season 7 of 'The Blacklist' on Friday, October 4, on NBC.
