'Stop going on dating shows to cry': 'The Bachelor' fans slam Kat as she breaks down on first date with Zach
THE BAHAMAS: During the Bahamas week, 'The Bachelor' star Zach Shallcross welcomed Katherine Izzo for their first one-on-one date. Fans were left dissatisfied as the day went on with numerous fun-filled activities after witnessing yet another contestant break down on the first date while attempting to bond over their past trauma.
Zach's 'Bachelor' season is four weeks old, and it has just returned from its first overseas trip, which means things are getting serious. "This is the period when profound sentiments begin to rise," Zach said in the February 13 episode. Katherine "Kat" Izzo was his first one-on-one date in the Bahamas, and their adventure on the water went swimmingly. So what went wrong for the viewers?

Kat breaks down during her date with Zach
During the afternoon half of their trip, Zach and Kat both commented that it didn't seem like a first date. "It feels so natural with her," Zach said of snorkeling with Kat, adding that he realized "this is something that I’m looking for."
Zach and Kat managed to retain their connection at dinner, when discussions shifted to a more serious issue, despite kissing, slathering one another in sunscreen, and dancing on the deck of their boat. Kat revealed that she grew up in a difficult home circumstance and was afraid Zach would condemn her for it. "I see where you come from, and I admire it so much, and it just makes me worried that someone like you that has such a healthy upbringing ... in the past, it’s just made me feel really unlovable," she explained.
Zach, on the other hand, readily dismissed those concerns. "You deserve someone that will love you for you," he remarked. "And I want you to know that you hold this power — like, you are so incredible. You know your worth. You know it."
'These women love to air their family drama'
Not happy with the topic of discussion, a fan wrote, "These women love to air their family drama on national tv with a man they just met." Another person added, "I would never last on this show because I could never cry in front of a man." Saying how a first date isn't the perfect setting to talk about something as big as this, a viewer tweeted, "Stop going on dating shows to cry over not having the perfect family as a kid please go to therapy first." Another question raised was, "Why do they get so sad on these dates… like is it normal to cry on a first date."

Calling the whole situation as 'odd' a viewer tweeted, "I’m always so confused why they cry on their one on ones. It’s supposed to be fun, carefree, and flirty. The crying is odd." Speaking of how this is not the way to impress Zach, a fan wrote, "All these chicks complain about wanting a 1-on-1 date and when they finally get one, they inevitably cry. As if that's going to sweep him off his feet." One fan also quipped, "Serious question: do the girls that come on this show cry on every 1st date they go on? Or does something about this show bring it out?" Another fan added, "Sometimes these girls come on with the lowest bar ever for men. Like Kat is impressed Zach gave her some pretty generic supportive phrases while she’s crying?? Bb who hurt you."

Throwing shade at Zach, a fan wrote, "Kat: *opens up about a bunch of trauma and insecure about her upbringing* Zach: you're awesome." Throwing a little advice towards the girls, a fan wrote, "I see both sides like Chanel I don’t think it’s necessarily a good thing to bring up your trauma to a man you just met It’s going to hurt a little more to unwind if he doesn’t pick her But some moms are not great parents so I feel sorry for her too."
