LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' Episode 8 aired on Disney+ on July 16, 2024. The engaging episode capped off an exciting season with some intriguing cameos that could set the stage for the show's even more intriguing future.

Created by Leslye Headland, the show has been under constant scrutiny for breaking the 'Star Wars' canon, and the final episode complicated matters even more with a cameo that will certainly leave the 'Star Wars' patrons divided.

In the final moments of the episode, Master Vernestra (Rebecca Henderson) approaches Master Yoda to talk about the death of the Jedi. The cameo has got the 'Star Wars' fans talking.

Did Master Yoda know about the Sith before 'The Phantom Menace'?

Events of 'The Acolyte' are based a century before the events of 'The Phantom Menace' where the Jedi get to know about the Sith for the first time and Master Yoda is just as shocked as the other Jedi at their return.

So if Master Vernestra tells Master Yoda about the mysterious death of the Jedi, Master Yoda would surely begin an investigation leading him to the Qimir (Manny Jacinto) and the Sith.

While Master Vernestra does know about the cause of Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) and the other Jedi's death, she doesn't know about the rise of the Sith, as she wasn't there at Khofar when Qimir called himself a Sith. Her only chance of reaching Qimir and Osha (Amandla Stenberg) is Mae whose memory has been wiped out by Qimir.

Further, Master Vernestra has already told the Senate that it was Master Sol who became a rogue Jedi and killed the rest of the masters, so maybe that is what she tells Master Yoda too.

If Master Yoda indeed knows about the presence of the Sith, the makers will have a task on their hands to justify how he did not know about the Sith in 'The Phantom Menace'.

Master Yoda wasn't the only cameo in 'The Acolyte' Episode 8

'The Acolyte' 7 explored the past of Mae, Osha, and Master Sol but Qimir's creation is still shrouded in mystery (@lucasfilm)

We saw Qimir and Osha on an unknown planet in the show and when they are about to leave the planet in the final episode, we see a mysterious figure appear on the planet.

The mysterious figure as per those who know 'Star Wars' history was Darth Plagueis making his debut in the live-action format. The fabled character tried to use the Force to conquer life and achieve immortality.

The two cameos have got the fans excited about a potential face-off between the two characters however it leaves questions about the relevance in 'Star Wars' canon.

Further, it also leaves a question about the potential relationship between Qimir and Darth Plagueis. Did Darth Plagueis train Qimir after Master Vernestra threw him out of the Jedi Order? Season 2 might have the answers.
