'The 100' Season 7 Countdown: New title credits for final season drop, hawk-eyed fans spot the hidden details
Any longterm fan of 'The 100' on The CW knows that the title credits pretty much reflect what the season will look like. With each season, our main characters explore more and come across new areas and this is reflected in the background details during the title credits. Everything from the locations to the telemetric data being displayed is pulled straight from the show's canon.
The title sequence for Season 6 showed the new habitable world, Eligius IV, the bugs, the radiation shield, Sanctum and the two eclipsing suns. It is much different compared to the other title sequences due to it being an entirely new location.
Jason Rothenberg tweeted out a new title sequence for 'The 100' one last time, and the new sequence is filled with hidden details, ones that fans have taken to uncovering to figure out what could be happening in the final season. One important thing to note is that Shelby Flannery, Chuku Modu and JR Bourne have been promoted to series regulars, so we can expect to see much more of Hope Diyoza, Gabriel Santiago and Russell Lightbourne in the final season.
A Reddit user had noted all of the details that appear on the new title sequence in different shots. What is interesting is that the sequence shows new planets — with breathable air and without — and this could mean that the anomaly, is in fact, some sort of portal to other planets.
One of the planets' names we are able to see is Nakara. Along with it, we also see the words "Planet Class: Class II Planet", "Atmosphere breathable", and "Primary Usage: Ossuarium" on the bottom left. A user pointed out that Ossuarium is a place or receptacle for skeletal remains.
There was also another planet called Bardo shown. However, here the atmosphere was shown to be not breathable and that life on the planet was extinct. However, another Reddit user has pointed out that Bardo refers to a state of consciousness between life and death, according to Buddhist philosophy.
Moreover, on both these planets, it is shown that the anomaly presence is detected.
But here's where things get more curious. The titles of the Season 7 episodes were revealed a few days back. The fifth episode is titled 'Welcome to Bardo', while the sixth is titled 'Nakara'. Could this mean that we could be seeing some interstellar travel, courtesy of the anomaly in Season 7? It sure looks like it.
Another interesting point to note is that some users even noted that Becca's lab popped up when Bob Morley's name (who plays Bellamy Blake) was displayed. Could this mean that 'The 100' will be going full circle? We know that one of the episodes of Season 7 will function as the backdoor pilot to a potential prequel series, and though Becca Franco (Erica Cerra) may be long dead, she could still have a big part to do in the story.
When Chuku Modu's name is displayed, we see the text, "6 systems with anomaly presence detected", but with only five planets represented with their own symbols. Could Earth be the sixth planet and will our heroes be able to make the Earth their home after all? Only the final season will tell.
One thing is for certain. The fever for the final season of 'The 100' is high and while we still have 18 days left to know what lies in the future of our favorite characters, the wait looks like it will be worth it. Moreover, Rothenberg also tweeted that viewers can look out for the trailer next week.
