'Temptation Island' Season 4: Taylor and Meg survive elimination, fans feel show has become 'Survivor'

While many fans found the latest episode to be engaging, some said the elimination was unnecessary, comparing the reality dating show to 'Survivor'

The deal with 'Temptation Island' is quite simple. Four couples head to an exotic location to put their relationships to the ultimate test. Upon arrival, they're separated and sent to two different villas. Twelve individuals of the opposite gender wait for them in each of these villas and try their best to seduce the visitors. Whether they give in to temptation or not and whether or not the couples choose to stay together by the end form the rest of the show.

Hosted by Mark L Walberg, Season 4 of 'Temptation Island' is one filled with exciting turns as the couples at crossroads and singletons looking to stir the pot both clash to make the most out of their time there. Episode 5, aptly titled 'Plot Twist', began right after the bonfire meet from the previous episode and saw Lascelles, Edgar, Luke, and Hania joining the ladies at the pool. The following morning, both the villas were struck by something unexpected. An elimination round for the singletons.

However, that was not all. The additional twist was that the singletons had to choose the ones being eliminated amongst themselves. The saving grace was that the final call was on the four men or women who could either agree to the decision made, swap one of the individuals up for elimination with another, or save one of them from being eliminated. The elimination round in the girls' villa saw Brian, Andrew, Mike M, Evan, and Taylor being pulled up and ended with Taylor being saved by the girls, while Riley, Bri, Emily, Meghan, and Olivia were rounded up at the guys' house.

The men, surprisingly, opted for a swap after a discussion and chose to let go of Alexa instead of Meghan. The eliminations were unexpected and caught many off guard, including fans, who took to Twitter to express their shock. "Talk about an all time reality plot twist, the singles have a chance to eliminate one another. This is brilliant! I love it! #TemptationIsland," a fan tweeted. "I KNEW IT. Elimation. But NOW the singles that came alone are the ones that gets to eliminate each other? Wow! Did not see that twist coming. #TemptationIsland," another shared. Fans also felt that the elimination went a lot better this season, tweeting "The guys handled elimination better this time than last season LOL #TemptationIsland."

However, some seemed to think that the eliminations were inconsiderate, tweeting "If they really care about the girls then they wouldn’t vote for who the girls are connecting with. #temptationisland". Though fans didn't have much to say about Meghan being saved, they were relieved that Taylor wasn't sent back home. "Ok i’m happy that all the women agreed on saving Taylor from being eliminated #TemptationIsland," a tweet read.

Although many found the latest episode of 'Temptation Island' Season 4 to be engaging some found the elimination unnecessary comparing the reality dating show to 'Survivor.' "So now Temptation Island is Survivor??? This voting thing is so damnnnn unnecessary I thought it's about the couples and connections #TemptationIsland #temptationtv," a fan opined.

A party followed the eliminations, after which, Ash Lamiroult and Taylor spent the night together. Gillian Lieberman ended up doing the same with Tommy. What repercussions will their actions have? Tune in next week to find out!

Temptation Island' airs Wednesdays at 10 pm ET on USA Network.
