LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When Season 2 of ‘Ted Lasso’ ended, everyone became emotional because of the setback that AFC Richmond received. Nate Shelley, one of the most integral parts of the team, moved away from the team and began coaching West Ham United. Season 2 was different in a lot of aspects because it also included a lot of dramatic moments as well. We got to see Lasso’s panic attacks, learned about his tragic past, and how he manages to stay so positive. On the other hand, the team gelled so well that they start winning games. But things have changed now and with Nate being one of their competitors, Season 3 has the perfect chance of giving viewers a perspective of how simplicity can change everything. However, will the show be able to replicate the success of the first two editions? Well, it does that with flying colors.

The premiere of Season 3 started with Ted, along with his son, at the airport. His son is leaving for the US and getting back with his mother. Lasso got really emotional and felt something big is going away from him. Meanwhile, AFC Richmond is predicted to finish last this season by everyone and that’s why Rebecca has given an ultimatum to the Manager that the team should perform much better than expected. When everything seems to be going worse, Lasso comes with his words of wisdom and uplifts the team by taking them into the ‘sewers’.

Simplicity takes over once again

The entire Season 3 will be about Lasso vs. Nate and the foundation has been laid in the first episode itself. Nate has gone fully rogue and not flinching to say bad things about his previous manager and team. Whereas Lasso still believes that Nate didn’t do anything wrong. The biggest reason for the show’s success has been how it shows that simplicity and grace can defeat a lot of bad things and this is what happens in the first episode. Even when Nate spits venom against the team, Ted still manages to win over people with his jokes and his positive attitude. The coach tends to give an indication that they will be competitive, but he will never want his team to say something bad about someone, and trust me, whenever you see this happening on the screen, you get a huge smile on your face.

Also, the premiere is much more humorous than the premiere of the second season. There are witty one-liners, hilarious situations, and Roy Kent’s swearing, which is actually funny. Between these epic sequences, there are a lot of moments that will make you realize that it’s not just a comedy series anymore. It’s a show that puts human emotions before anything and that’s why this show is so popular.

Is it worth watching?

Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso is magnificent and this role will be remembered for years to come. His acting is timeless. Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent is hilarious and even when he says “f**k”, you can’t help but laugh out loud. He is a genius. Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Swift are just perfect. Nick Mohammed seems to be loving his new identity on the show and is acing it. Meanwhile, all the AFC Richmond members have gone better at acting. One great thing about Episode 1 is those other team members, which were not that actively speaking in the first two seasons, are given priority here as well. Very good decision by the makers.

The writing is still the most extraordinary aspect of the show and it just keeps getting better with each passing season.

All in all, ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 3 starts with an extraordinary episode that strikes a perfect balance between humor and emotions. It can’t get better than this.

‘Ted Lasso’ is back with a BANG!
