If there’s one show that has managed to captivate everyone’s imagination, then it’s undoubtedly the Apple TV+ comedy series ‘Ted Lasso’. The show has been a phenomenal success for the streamer and created viewing records. The series revolves around a soccer coach named Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) who gets hired to manage AFC Richmond after leading Wichita State Shockers to a Division II National Collegiate Athletic Association championship. The only problem is that he doesn’t know much about football. For two seasons, the series has managed to put a smile on everyone’s faces, but it seems Richmond’s journey is finally coming to an end.

Now, we all know that ‘Ted Lasso’ has already been renewed for Season 3 and is currently in production. Although we don’t know anything about the storyline for the upcoming season, the makers have made it clear that it might be the beginning of the end for ‘Ted Lasso’. Emmy-winning star and one of the writers on the show, Brett Goldstein, stunned everyone when he revealed that Season 3 of the Apple TV+ season might turn out to be the last.

In a recent interview with ‘The Times’, Goldstein noted that the upcoming edition may really be the end for the soccer comedy that’s more about feelings than actual soccer. While talking about the series, the actor-writer said that the writing team is certainly writing Season 3 as the final one. He noted, “We are writing it like that. It was planned as three. Spoiler alert — everyone dies.”

The last bit is a joke, but the part where he said “it was planned as three” might turn out to be just true. This is not the first time a prominent member of the cast has come out and said that Season 3 will be the show’s final outing. Jason Sudeikis and show creator Bill Lawrence have previously said that they have already planned how the story ends for these characters with the “three-season arc”.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sudeikis said they had always envisioned a three-season run. He added, “The story that’s being told — that three-season arc — is the one that I see, know, and understood. As far as what happens after that, who knows? I don’t know.” On the other hand, Lawrence made it clear that the stories of these characters will be coming to an end with Season 3.

It would be interesting to see if Apple TV+ manages to convince them for another season, but as of now, it looks like fans should be ready to bid adieu to their favorite characters soon.

The first two seasons received universal acclaim and won several awards, including Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series and Golden Globes for Best Comedy Series. Apart from critical success, the show also enjoys a massive fan following due to its engaging story and brilliant characters.

As far as Season 3 is concerned, the show might see a little delay in returning to the small screens. Reports suggest that the production on the upcoming edition started later than usual and fans should anticipate a later premiere date for Season 3.
