The finale episode of ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 2 has finally aired on Apple TV+ and once again it has shown why it is one of the best shows in the world right now. The entire season has been heavy on emotions as we finally got to know about how the show’s central character has been dealing with mental health problems while coaching Richmond FC.

Following the events of the penultimate episode, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) knows that his secret is out and it was Nathan (Nick Mohammad) who leaked it to the media. In the finale, Richmond is training for their final game in the league when Ted comes out and talks with the entire team. He opens up about the story that got printed everywhere and apologizes to the team that they should have known all about this from him rather than a newspaper.

Ted gives a small speech about how making choices define us and reveals that he made a bad choice by not telling the team about his panic attacks. He says, “Every choice is a chance, fellas. And I didn’t get the chance to further build my trust with you all.” He apologizes to everyone on the team and asks for forgiveness because he doesn’t want the team to hold anything back from him.

The team is quite relieved that Ted shared this information with them and they are quite appalled that someone from within the team leaked such sensitive info to the press. The coach receives immense support from the team and once again, it was Ted simplicity that did the trick.

However, he wants the team to stay focused on the game because that game will promote them to the Premier League and the team really needs that.

We already knew that the finale will be a bit emotional, but the way Ted opened up about his feelings with the team made us realize how important it is for athletes and coaches to talk about their mental health. Athletes and coaches are always on everyone’s radar after a bad performance and hear so much from ardent fans, but they never show it on their face that how much it hurts them.

'Ted Lasso' addressed the mental health problems faced by people in sport and how they can affect their careers. In recent times, we have seen world-class athletes like Michael Phelps, Naomi Osaka, Simone Biles, and Ben Stokes getting away from their respective sports in order to take care of their mental health. It is not easy to leave what you love the most, but you got to make some drastic decisions so that you can save yourself.

‘Ted Lasso’ once again wins everyone with simplicity and that’s what makes the show a worldwide phenomenon.
